Let's not forget: Godzilla, Scooby Doo, Superman (Coming soon), Flubber, The Nutty Professor, Dr. Dolittle, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, 101 Dalmations, The Amittyville Horror, Cape fear, Freaky Friday, The Parent Trap, How The Grinch Stole Christmas. **Shrug** Who knows in another 20-40 years all of these movies will be made all over again. And won't that be f-ing GREAT!
I find it funny that in threads like these, where some folks bemoan the remake, there are always just as many people who show they knew nothing about the original, anyway. I'm with Rocketman and Oski on this. Sure, there are a lot of remakes in film, but if it's a good movie it's a good movie, and that's all I really care about. I hated the Godzilla thing not because it was Godzilla, but because it sucked. Batman was another retelling, but I didn't care because it was enjoyable. All I want is an entertaining movie. And some of this stuff is very interesting to see because of what we can do with our technology now. I'm looking forward to seeing if it can add to the experience. (Both WotW and King Kong fall under this category) Besides, pretty much every film is a remake or based on or inspired by something. The really, really original stuff gets heavy praise but doesn't pull the kind of box office everything else does. That's hardly the fault of the studios. And... You're kidding, right? I can never tell without the smilies...
someone mentioned dukes of hazzard already, but the lion witch and wardrobe is based on a book and is also going to be a remake of a tv series from the 80s. this trailer looks good and i think the movie will be worth watching, but having said all of that i still dont like the feel of movies today. i liked the movies of yesteryear where there were actually props used instead of computer generating everything. look at this trailer and see the trex fight kong, then watch the version from 1933 and the old version feels more real.
See even quicktime knows it's crap.. I'll recap for ya UP, a bunch of crap goes down that looks just like the Jurassic Park in NewYork
Huh. I guess I'm the only one who finds the prospect of seeing a giant gorilla beat a bunch of dinosaurs to death pretty rad.
at least this king kong resembles king kong of old. the new godzilla only reminded me of one of those monitors the crocodile hunter likes to play with.
It's pretty cool that they kept this version in the '30s instead of doing a modern remake. I'm just sick of seeing the T-Rex get jobbed out. As for originality, I think you'd be pretty hard-pressed to find a completely 100% original concept in anything, especially movies where every plot is a cliche' and actors recycle their interchangeable typecast roles. And I'm not even being cynical, it's inevitable when so many movies are released every year.
Okay, I rebooted and was able to watch the trailer. So he fights Dinosaurs and not Godzilla? The graphics of the dinosaurs don't even look half decent.
When does this ride open???? I will SO be the first in line at Universal Studios!!! In related news, it's got NOTHING on Fantastic Four. Well, actually Taxi was pretty bad. But brace yourselves; all the previous films are nowhere near as horrid as this: The LIVE-ACTION version of The Jetsons. No, I stand corrected. There is in fact one film much, much worse than this. It is...the LIVE-ACTION depiction of the awful cartoon Johnny Bravo, where Dwayne "Steroids" Johnson (yeah...The Rock) will be "looking for his long-lost father in a coming-of-age action-comedy." http://www.themovieinsider.com/previews/upcoming-movie-remakes.php?&view=high Please kill me. Who would've guessed that Miami Vice would be the best of the upcoming crapped-on (re)makes?? Honestly, if these Hollywood writers are getting so lazy, they might as well start a new concept (and the official climax to the end of cinema and a perfect reason for Osama to attack us again): REALITY MOVIES.
I think the KK trailer is bad ass, I'm not happy about Jack Black's prominent role, but I think I will see this movie nonetheless.
Aint it cool posted hi-res pics of Kong's face and the T-Rex. http://aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=20605 I'm no paleontologist, but I'm pretty sure T-Rex only had one row of teeth and not multiple ones like a shark. EDIT: nevermind, looks like WETA "created" this, the V. Rex and it's not meant to accurately represent what we know about dinosaurs, it's just meant to be scary. I had this thought this morning and I saw that Moriarty guy mention a similar thing in his WOTW review. In JP, Spielberg used only 65 digital effects shots. If you think about it, most of them were used in a way where you didn't look right at the dino. Like the Brachiasaurus they first see. You only see his legs in some shots, and when you look right up at him, the sun shines down. The T-rex during that first attack is seen from the inside of the cars and through the windshields. Spielberg gets it, CG doesn't look real, no matter how good it is, so you gotta use it in doses and mix in some real stuff.
