I'm looking forward to Aronofsky's Robocop. They need to bring Boddicker back though. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QdZqKVcI9m8&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QdZqKVcI9m8&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Ernest the cat Miller is in it. LOLSSSSSSSSSSx10. The pharmacist in the movie was kinda cute. Spoiler the ending was kinda weird to me. It kinda left me hanging. I am going to assume he died in the ring. if cassidy...or pam was still there backstage, maybe he doesn't have the heart attack? I've read wrestling boards that said the WWE doesn't like the film. they're not happy with it. I also read that ROH was heavily involved in the filming, and you could see their signage. I've never seen their promotion before, but they will be in Houston in april 3rd and 4th, i think at the GRB. Spoiler wrestling is not real! It's still real to me damnit. edit. that pharmacist. she is samoan. and, yup, she has the last name. she is part of the family. if you don't know what that means, it means her cousins are the Rock and Yokozuna.
They never said they didn't like the film. Just mentioned that it was a story about a wrestler in the independent circuit and not mainstream like their product. Wrestling nerds just took it the wrong way and will use anything to bash WWE. Here's what WWE said: "While 'The Wrestler' is a very engaging movie, it portrays how wrestling was conducted in some independent wrestling circuits, unlike WWE, which is a global brand with millions of fans."
I don't know, I appreciate Aronofsky's movies but some of his films feel too preachy to me. While I liked the style of Requiem for a Dream, I felt it was an ad for an anti-drug campaign. Also, I wasn't to fond of The Fountain, I had high expectations for that film.
Great movie... especially for a wrestling fan like me. It was so dramatic and the climax was so intense (... that's what she said). Spoiler I got a little bored during the middle of the movie when him and his daughter were having that moment. But, I trusted in Aronofsky to finish the movie strong just like he did in "Requeim" and he did not disappoint. I'm glad Mickey Rourke won a Golden Globe for his performance... he was amazing
Awesome! Well deserved. Now its time for the Academy to do the right thing...for once. Give the man the gold.
Y'all clowned me. This movie was not good. Its a dime-a-dozen. I'd rate it 6.5-7 max. Jokes on me though. Y'all got me. Fool me once shame on you (Napoleon Dynamite), fool me twice...
The story is a little old, but Mickey Rourke's performance is what makes the movie, especially since it's so unexpected. He's so good that you earnestly find yourself feeling terrible for the character and rooting for him at the end. Tell me you didn't feel awful when Spoiler he calls his little kid neighbor over to play Nintendo and the wrestling game featuring him, only to have the boy become extremely bored and leave .
I agree 100% with that. Rourke is amazing. I am excited to see him in Iron Man 2. Acting throughout the cast is great. And its a good movie. But from what I heard it was hyped to be like an all-time great. And in the end, the story alone just doesn't stand on its own with those kind of balls. And who knows, maybe its just easy as hell to portray a wrestler. A few "brothers" and "grunts", cut, scene, wrap.
I loved this movie. Great story, great acting. And Marisa Tomei naked. Definitely one of my favorite Hollywood crushes.
I keep thinking this is a play on the screenplay John Tuturo was writing in the Cohn Brothers Barton Fink.
i third this. decent movie...waaaaay overhyped. nothing original about the story at all, other than it being in a wrestling setting.
Just finished watching this. I absolutely hate wrestling, but i gotta say this movie was really good and Mickey Rouke did a great job. well worth it.
