I'm excited about this flick because I read the book and thought it would make an excellent movie. From the trailer, it seems a bit different, the rival magicians were never friends, but I trust Christopher Nolan and the great cast he has.

Not a second of the day goes by without a movie on television showing either Michael Caine or Gene Hackman.

i guess he's always been "that guy" to me. Hackman's been the leading man in many movies (at least one's i remember) but for some reason Caine's never been a big name to me.

Oh, man. Don't get me riled up on PCU quotes. :)

"'A Bridge Too Far.' Caine and Hackman in the same movie. This is my thesis, man! This is my closing argument! I CAN STOP WATCHING TV!!"

    Was that David Bowie? Wow.

Christopher Nolan has earned a lifetime pass from me. At this point, I'll see any damn movie he directs. He's brilliant.

Michael Caine as Batman's butler. Damn. I'm trying to remember if the first time I ever saw him was Blame It On Rio or Hannah and Her Sisters...

    Anyway, what a trailer!

Michael Caine's first flick. Don't miss the mass wedding of the 2000 warriors and the 2000 virgins!! The mating song of the Zulu maidens!!

Actually, it's a pretty good film, based on a true story, and using real Zulu tribesmen (and women). Definitely not politically correct!:

On the January 22nd 1879 the British Army suffered one of its worst defeats when Zulu forces massacred 1,500 of its troops at Isandlhwana. A short time after the main battle a Zulu force numbering in excess of 4000 warriors advanced on a British hospital and supply dump guarded by 139 Welsh infantrymen. The film concentrates on this bloody 12 hour battle during which the British force, under their commander from the Royal Engineers who happened to be in the area building a bridge and happened to be senior to the infantry officer, won 11 Victoria Crosses. While taking some liberties with history the film follows reality fairly closely, including matching exactly the identities of the VC winners.

Man, Caine has been a big star for decades. Anyone remember Harry Palmer?
