awesome movie, as good as knocked up, imo. whoever said super-vulgar american pie, was pretty on target.
I thought it was waaay better than Knocked Up. I had high expectations, but it exceeded them. Just awesome.
Another classic moment: Spoiler The drawing penises as a child story...who thinks of that kind of humor? That was so out there...genius. And how about the cast of characters at that wacked out party? Where did they find those actors? That was some crazy stuff. I'm mad at because I had promised myself that I would keep from watching anything about the movie except the original trailer. I'm pissed because I watch the 3 extra clips on on the internet. There was some very funny stuff in those that I wish would have been keep a secret until the movie.
i never buy into the hype about how good or funny a movie is. i rarely go to the movies since i'm a lazy POS. I just get them when the come out on dvd, but i'm really fired up about this one and i am definitely going to check it out tonight. the guy from knocked up wrote this for himself a while back but just outgrew the part even though he's only 2 years older than the curly haired kid.
just saw this last night at Edwards, and hot damn, it was effin hilarious. vulgar, definitely, but i was LOLing for a great part of the movie, which is saying something b/c it takes something novel/original/truly funny to make me laugh out loud. Harold & Kumar trailer was funny Spoiler - especially where that lady started picturing Kumar as a terrorist. classic. National Treasure 2 trailer was a joke - i can't believe that a movie company would even release a movie like that. just watch the trailer, you'll see. it's just stupid. AMERICAN GANGSTER - i can't wait for this **** to come out. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0765429/trailers-screenplay-E33032-10-2 SuperBad - great acting by both of the kids. Spoiler weird to see SNL ppl in movies all the time now. GREAT non-stop one-liners. i want to watch it again just so i can reference all of them later. "i've got a boner." "byyyyye." "we WILL shoot you." "we're assuming you all have drugs and crack." "get ready to be fuc*ed by the long dick of the law." all of Seth's penis drawings the blood stain on Seth's pants Seth & Fogell making fun of each other (whole movie) "Boop." (waking up in the morning) "WTF?!" "umm, your mom has huge t***." "Chicka chicka yeah" this was definitely a super-vulgar American Pie. again, i couldn't believe how many high-school-age kids i saw in the theater.
I think it blows american pie away big time. This movie was wall to wall jokes, I nearly died laughing. It felt more authentic too, I'm the same age as Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg and they started writing this script when they were in high school. As funny as the script was, the casting was perfect and I think there was just a perfect storm of the right actors with the right material to make this a great movie. Did anybody else know it was the Harold & Kumar teaser as soon as the intercom voice goes "Flight 420 to Amsterdam now boarding." "It's gonna be exactly like Euro Trip only it won't suck."
I tried to say the same thing in my post, but you did much better. Now will they dare to a Superbad Goes To College remake?
This is probably the first movie where almost every character was funny. Seth, Evan, Fogell, and the cops were all great.
And I will buy the kick ass soundtrack... http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/music/pid/7473526/a/Superbad.htm
That was one of my first thoughts after the movie... I loved it and IMO Superbad>American Pie. Spoiler iiiiiii have a boner!
Saw the movie this weekend and American Pie can't hold a candle to Superbad, one reason Superbad feels so authentic that it doesn't feel like a teenage comedy. Great casting on all counts and funny dialogue that's delivered perfectly throughout. Only issue I have with the movie, same one I had with 40 year old virgin and Knocked up, is that the movie feel over long. Think it could have been streamed lined a bit. No big deal but considering it's nearly 2 hours long, it can feel a bit long.
I can't believe that Fogell has no acting experience and this is the first thing he has ever done. He was hilarious.
yeah micheal cena and jonah hill were great in this movie, esp cena...a great way to end the summer movie blast (it wasnt like there was a huge amount of great movies but there were a lot of anticipated/blockbusters this year) i love a lot of the stuff apatatow is associated with its toilet humor yeah, but its not the same type as like the american pies and all. i guess its a bit more smarter toilet humor my favorite part: Spoiler becca: I'm soo wet evan: yeah we learnt that in health class wow just saw its already on imdb top 100 list at 78
Figures. I went to that piece of crap store at Gessner/59. Although I did see they are building a brand new one across the street.
I hate that one. Even though it's the closest, I'd rather go the other way to the HW6 and Westheimer one.
It's Cera. They're on the cover of entertainment weekly and in the story they talk about the grind of going to different cities to promote the movie and there's a part where a sports radio dj gets his name wrong and calls him Michael Cena and he corrects him by saying, "actually, it's Chena." The kid is quick.
All seven of us who watched Arrested Development are well versed in (George) Michael Cera's genius - his flinching reactions to the accidentally horrific things his father requested, his earnest love for his roommate cousin - I urge anyone to go rent those DVDs if you have not seen them. How weird is it that George Micheal is the breakout star of Arrested Development? It's really too bad his current popularity did not happed during AD's run, it might have saved it. He's basically cheating, he is a 35 year old with an amazing sense of subtle humor who lucked into the physical being of an 18 year old. He is rad.
I don't know if I would say that Michael Cera is the breakout star of Arrested Development. Will Arnett and Jason Bateman are doing pretty well for themselves since the show has been canceled. Michael Cera is great at playing that awkward quiet teenager though. This character he played in Superbad is probably what George Michael would have been like if Arrested Development was on HBO instead of Fox.
