Maybe I’m dumb but how can a few smart apes take over? I’ve seen the original move only so I just assume that the human race took a drastic tumble cause by some apocalypse of some sort and some smart apes escape. So less humans mean that apes have no real threat thus they are able to flourish in nature and that’s how they take over. I’m I right?
I think the general idea is that the serum they used on Cesear (ape leader) to elevate the brain function was used en mass before it all went wrong, at least that the impression I got from the Trailer.
Yeah it looks like he gets his hands on the serum and gets it to other apes. Anyway, the original concept was definitely stronger in the sense that it didn't require such a reality leap to pull off.
Yeah, in the original they started as our pets. But as their intelligence grew, we made them our slaves. Until one day they all revolt.
I'm a big fan of The Planet of the Apes franchise and even liked Tim Burton's version (although they should've gotten rid of the blonde girl). Not overly impressed with this one but I suspect that they are still doing a lot of post production to refine the CGI. In the original movie the human world was destroyed in a nuclear war and the surviving humans devolved while apes evolved. This part is pretty well known butI am going to spoiler the next part for those who haven't seen the other movies. Spoiler They later expanded on this by having two ape scientist flee the nuclear destruction of the planet of the apes at the end of Beneath the Planet of the Apes, using Charlton Heston's space ship and travel back in time to the 1970's. They are eventually killed at the end of Escape from the Planet of the Apes, but have a child, Ceasar, in secret. In Conquest of the Planet of the Apes Ceasar is full grown and a virus has wiped out dogs and cats so people start breeding apes as pets but then later as slaves. Ceasar is as intelligent as a human but hides out and blends in with the enslaved apes. He eventually leads a rebellion of apes who overthrow their human masters. In Battle for the Planet of the Apes it is after the nuclear apocalypse and a few surviving humans and apes are trying to build a new society. Ceasar has taken a contemporary ape as mate so that his genetics and influence speed up ape evolution into the Planet of the Apes. Eventually the apes superior physical strength overcome the humans. In the Tim Burton 2001 Planet of the Apes there is also a time travel angle. Mark Wahlberg is an astronaut on a space station around some sort of temporal distortion. He travels through it to discover a strange planet where apes rule over humans. Unlike the original movie both apes and humans can speak and he discovers that they are both descendants of his space station that was pulled into the temporal distortion and crash on the planet centuries before he arrives. The apes on the station were genetically altered to be more intelligent so they could serve as test pilots and once on the planet they revolt. Eventually they become as intelligent as the humans but retain superior strength and agility to the humans so the humans are defeated.
This Trailer is already better than the Tim Burton's whole movie I loved the original movies. . . I think what bothers me most is how the theme and subplot of the original was trashed. The movie had quite a good POINT to it. . . where as burton's was more burton crap with Marky Mark. I am so going to see this one Rocket River
I was referencing the film where nuclear war devastated humankind and apes evolved into the dominant species.
I totally have no interest in this movie by the look of it. The only way for this to work if there is a smart and deep story behind it then it will work. Arm less monkeys going totally ape against armed human is totally silly. They should have left this back story part out and jump right into an apocalypse Earth that's already being run by evolved intelligent Apes. The back story of how they came to be could easily be told in different manner and should be left a bit ambiguous to make it interesting.
This wasn't a very good trailer. Probably not going to watch this, since I haven't watched any of the other ones yet. I'll probably get around to it eventually, but as for now, this doesn't interest me.
I like the Trailer. I think it should take longer than 2 hours to develop the story though. I like the Creepiness of the Apes sneaking around etc. It has alot of potential . . .. I will see the film to see if they pull it off Rocket River

The monkeys/apes look really good. They seem to have successfully avoided an I Am Legend CGI type disaster
