Especially the part of Crowe was terrible unimpressive. Valjean has a couple of great songs, and I doubt that Crowe will be able to deliver. They should have gone for actors who can sing, not big names who migh not be that great of a singer. I'm going to watch it, but I do not expect much. Fortunatly the actor who plays Marius does seem to be able to sing. Ofcourse it cannot be worse than that Jonas brother in the 25th anniversary. He destroyed "empty chairs at empty tables".
lol... totally agree about the Jonas brother one. That was horrible. It's Jackman playing Valjean, btw. Crowe plays Javert. I know Jackman can sing. He used to be on Broadway. You can find his Oklahoma parts on YouTube. All I know about Crowe is he has a band or something, so not sure how good his singing is. Catwoman can really sing too so I'm not worried about that either. What I've seen of her version of 'I Dreamed a Dream' was pretty awesome and moving.
Yeah thanks, i messed up with the names, I did mean Crowe, but I meant Javier. The 2 indivudal songs of Javier are beautiful. And the small part of crowe was not really impressive. I agree that catwoman surprised me.
Les Mis (the touring off-Broadway etc etc) was playing a couple of weeks ago in Houston. I wish I'd taken the wife. She hasn't seen a live musical before. But we're excited to see the film version of this. She loves those stories of triumphing over injustice and utter hardships; heck, she liked the Liam Neeson-Geoffrey Rush non-musical version from a few years back, so she'll like this. If you youtube the principals, you'll see Russell Crowe's a decent singer. Obviously there are more dynamic singers in the universe, but I'll withhold judgment til the film (EDIT: or maybe I'll listen to snippets of the album on Itunes when I get home, if I remember). It's good to see his career get a revival with Les Mis and, next year, as Jor-El in the Man of Steel.
