I like the deal for the Wizards. It's an one year of extra commitment once Trae opts in, which is room they can absorb and low risk. Defense matter less since they are in tank mode. But having a competent playmaker allow them to better asses their young guys. Some of those young Wizard players will be close to extension, in which case seeing it on the court with a real PG, gives GMs better evaluation data.
IIRC, Amare and Melo joined the Knicks the same year, Melo in midseason trade. Before that, the Knicks were pretty bad, and that's when Melo started asking to be traded there. Even with the two stars, they were only a middle of the pack team in the East.
He's played in 10 games this year and when will he be back does anyone know I think the Hawks made the deal because he would have been eligble for a super max because they were the team that drafted him. There have been rumors of him being traded for 3yrs and no one wanted him or that contract for a reason.
He doesn't really come across as the kind of player you bring in to set the culture like Fred and Dillon did for us. He's still only 27 though so I guess it's a very low risk move for Washington who are already a bottom feeder. Either he's the star they can build around or when his money comes off the books it at least should open up plenty of roster flexibility I guess lol.
Exactly. Never once when I watched him play did I think that’s a winning player and someone I want or the Rockets even need.
I stand by what I said earlier in the thread: He's a chucker that doesn't play defense. Glad he landed elsewhere. Can The Rockets get gifted something like Luka to the Lakers?
If we got tired of teams targeting Reed on defense early on, getting Trae would have been that on steroids, with zero hope of the situation ever improving.
