I'm not saying that come April, he goes under. But he has most certainly had more than his fair share of choke jobs. Don't forget, in the single championship run he was on board for, Pop sat him in several 4th quarters in favor of Speedy Claxton. And he (along with the rest of the cast) left Duncan on an island in a couple games against the Lakers in last year's series.

He's good, and he brings it in the playoffs most of the time. But he's disappeared in some big games as well.

When the Rockets were beating the Suns in the playoffs en route to championships, I always wanted the ball in Barkley's hands at the end because I knew he couldn't/wouldn't deliver.

who was the guy on the Jazz three years ago, who tried to tip in a stockton three for the win? it was final seconds, close to elimination for the jazz in the first round and stockton shot a three which bounced up in the rim and it could have come back down and in if not for the other guy tried to tip it in, missed and cost them the game. anyone remember who that was? it was kind of nice seeing stocktons face after that.

Good call. He's the only player I can think of that actually went into DEFENSIVE slumps during the postseason. During the regular season he'd be a good defender, and then he'd get lit up for 30 by a scrub during the playoffs.

Keith Van Horn also deserves mention.

has anyone been more crucified for things in his career than chris webber. it seems to be one of those things that started and then it just snowballs and everyone piles on whether it's valid or not.

i mean, usually college guys get passes for things, but people never miss a chance to make fun of him for the timeout (people usually feel bad for the georgetown guy who threw the pass right to the unc guy behind him in 82, but they make fun of webber). his career playoff numbers aren't all that different than his career numbers as best as i can tell. doing it in my head, it looks like his playoff ppg is 21, which is 0.8 lower than his career averaged. his fg% went down from 48.5 to a little over 46% i think which is probably a normal dip for the playoffs. his rebounds were pretty much the same.

and how people lump him in with peja on those kings teams is beyond me. peja choked horribly (anyone remember that airball that would've won the series, maybe the most underrated choke ever) and series after series and christie had a horrendous game 7, but webber was the kings best player in the WCF. everyone immediately says bibby b/c of the game 5 shot (and obviously bibby is very clutch and more clutch than webber) but webber had a huge series, led the team in pts, rebounds, and assists and had nice 4th quarters and yet people somehow act like he brought that team down.

he is not as bad as people act like. it's just in fashion to say.

and barkley? as SF already mentioned, his playoff stats are huge, he had that one famous shot over drob, and, at least in regular season moments i remember, he was good for us at the end of games. i believe he did miss two free throws in game 5 that would've ended our title run in 95 but this seems to be about not showing up in the playoffs, not having a bad moment here and there.

though nick anderson's bad moment alone gets him on this list. thank you nick.

We were lucky Barkley ended up hurting his elbow in the 95 series vs the Suns he was a monster that series.

As for guys like John Starks, D scott, and Nick Anderson all I have to say is thanks for the help.

Who was the Jazz player that kept hoisting threes (and missing) them to open the door for a Rockets comeback in the playoffs? David Benoit? Bryon Russell?

Karl Malone. "The Mailman don't deliver on Sundays." I think Pippen said that, right before Malone missed two crucial free throws. He turned into a jump shooter in the Finals also.

When the Kings were getting eliminated by LA, Webber could never be counted on in the clutch. He didn't want the ball. Can you ever remember him making a big shot? Bibby made all their big shots, and it wasn't enough; Webber wanted no part of it.
