http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=59594&src=150 "If the Lakers really want to trade Bryant, here's an idea that could make sense for both sides: Send him to Houston for Tracy McGrady. The Rockets would exchange a superstar who has never won a playoff series for one who has three championship rings. The Lakers would get a player back who can sell tickets and keep the team competitive. If the Lakers insist on sending Bryant to the Eastern Conference, how about to Milwaukee for Michael Redd, Yi Jianlian and filler? True, Milwaukee is not a large market. But if Bryant really does love Chicago, he could be reminded that Toni Kukoc played for the Bucks and lived at his home in Highland Park. Sounds like everyone's a winner. Give it up for Kobe Five Kobe Bryant trades that make more sense than sending him to Chicago for half of the Bulls' roster: 1. To Houston for Tracy McGrady 2. To Dallas for Josh Howard, Jason Terry and DeSagana Diop 3. To Phoenix for Shawn Marion and Leandro Barbosa 4. To Atlanta for Joe Johnson, Josh Smith and Shelden Williams 5. To Milwaukee for Michael Redd and Yi Jianlian"
There is no way they would do it for TMac straight up, but what about TMac + Francis + Head? That would also greatly reduce our backcourt logjam. If they are willing to take players like Lucas, Novak, or Reed then all the better. I don't know why they would really want draft picks from us since they would be crappy picks anyway. I think this trade makes both teams better. We lose some depth but gain talent and they actually gain talent (with respect to the rest of their team) and depth.
I don't think Kobe would veto a trade to Houston. In fact, I'm sure he won't, and neither do most folks over at lakersground.net. He's hinted at the possiblity of coming to Houston before I thinks.
he has NEVER done that. if he did, buss and kupchak would have made a deal about it. b/c seriously, what we have to offer can be more enticing to the lakers than dallas or chicago. no papers here in LA have even written about houston one bit. u hear ppl on ESPN writing about it as a LOGICAL destination b/c they can get back tmac/yao. but not actual discussions.
I think we dont need Kobe and were good the way we are. (I got suspended for a month off prosportsdaily.com)
what tmac and bonzi have to say about this situation: With conjecture growing that Kobe Bryant might be traded, perhaps even before the Rockets open the season Oct. 30 in Los Angeles against the Lakers, the Rockets' opinions were divided between shock that Bryant could be traded and the assumption anyone could. "If they trade Kobe, man, that's really a sad story," Tracy McGrady said. "He's the great player in our league. He has accomplished so much out there for them; just hate to see something like that end." Bonzi Wells, however, said he has not given it much thought, but would not be surprised to see anyone dealt. "I don't really care," Wells said. "It's not my business. I play for the Rockets. If he came here, that's when it would be my business. "Everybody's tradeable." from the CHRON
another factor to consider. tmac's contract will end in two years. he stated before that he will end his career and play baseball. Also on his most recent interview, he said aldeman's game revital hime for another couple of years with basketball. all signs hinting tmac is leaving the league after two years. Would rockets trade him now before getting zero value back? Who's going to trade for tmac next season when he truely decided to leave the NBA? only would cap release team would.
Dont believe every soundbite by McGrady. He is not going to walk away from the millions of $$$ he receives for playing basketball. He may be ok at playing softball, and if he did play baseball, he would "be like Mike" and suck at it.
what are u talking about? tmac hinted at that last yr when his back caused him to be so out of shape to start last season that he was so slow to do anything causing him to think he lost his game. he proclaimed that on TNT. when he got in shape a lil, he did fine. tmac exaggerates EVERYTHING. he's truly a drama queen. he'll play in this league for 4-5 more dominant yrs.
I don't think T-Mac will be finished with basketball "in two years" unless his health fails on him. He's just really prone to feeling extreme emotions and making extreme decisions (consider the following: Novak is the "best" shooter... JVG is the "best" coach, etc.). I am not for this trade unless it is a package like T-Mac + Chuck Hays for Kobe + Lamar Odom + 2nd round pick, which I know would never happen. Kobe might be really talented, but he's a chump and a cancer to any team. The only reason he has three rings is because he was fortunate enough to have played with Shaq.
I feel he's a Rockets first fan, that though he's a T-Mac fan but will still a Rockets fan if T-Mac be traded;and a T-Mac first fan is somebody like me,became a Rockets fan since T-Mac came here, and though I really really love Rockets and our players but once T-Mac be traded I'll accept and have to go with him brokenheart.——and ye I'm careless if he'll be traded just becuase so tired of team fans hate their main player. And,a T-Mac first fan is not equal a T-Mac only fan, unless he only love T-Mac,only cares about T-Mac,T-Mac's benefit, considers things all surround him and so on.
i don't know, tracy is great player but Kobe championships = 3 Number of playoffs games = 131 Out of the first round = 10 (thats a guess) Tracy Mcgrady = 0 Number of playoff games = just 32 Out of the first round = 0 i think if the trade came where houston can pick up KOBE i would do it. I love TRACY, but KOBE is a winner
How many times has Kobe gotten out of the first round without Shaquille O'neal -- one of the top 10 greatest players ever -- next to him? And do you honestly think that if T-Mac was playing beside Shaq in his prime, he wouldn't have gotten out of the first round? Also, Kobe really has only separated himself from T-Mac the last 2 or 3 seasons. Has he had any more playoff success in that time? Has he won more games in that time?
first,it's 3 years, not 2 years. second—— Damien Pierce Rockets.com Staff Writer The Rockets' six-time All-Star said after Thursday night's win over the Chicago Bulls that he doesn't plan on pursuing a baseball career until he's satisfied that his basketball playing days are over. "I'm going to play baseball at the end of my (basketball) career," McGrady said. "I guess (TNT) took that to mean the end of my contract. But who knows what I'm going to do in four years?" ----------------- “It was a scary thing at first because I didn't know what was going on with my back. I never thought about retirement but I wanted to know what was going to be the next step … do I need surgery and things like that. ”(ESPN)
