well, most of the posts in this post is bad about tmac and good about yao. i'm just trying to post the alternative.

i did state tmac played his worst playoff series EVER in that utah series so it ain't like i'm pumping him up. but i feel obliged to defend tmac after reading all the crap about him in this post. about how tmac is injury-proned (while yao is also), about how tmac lost a step and not a superstar anymore and all this crap.

i do feel myself that yao was overworked in that series by JVG. i do feel yao is not only the best center but a top 5 big man in the game. i do feel yao can get even better w/ the help of adelman.

but when you read crap about tmac on posts like this and how some people make him out to be disposable, i feel obligated to defend a guy who helped us get to the playoffs w/ mediocre talent when yao was out, a guy who stepped up his game despite not being in shape, a guy who was OVERWORKED more than any other star in the L... i feel i have to defend him.

I would do a Tmac Kobe swap. However, along with Yao, I'd say Scola is untouchable too (he is the PERFECT PF compliment for Yao), and I'd also be hesitant to throw battier in there. But anybody else is as good as gone if Buss requests it. But no way this happens unless we take back a **** load of **** contracts from the lakers. But with KB24, Yao, Scola, Battier, and either Rafer/MJ, or Francis/Brooks at PG, I can see championship this year. But if I were the lakers I wouldn't do a Tmac Kobe trade b/c they are essentially the same age, but the gaps between their games are greater than ever.

i can't wait for tmac to restore his image among even rocket fans. even an all-nba 2nd team and top 6 in MVP voting in a year where he was out of shape and just TRYING to get his game back are not enough. usually, u judge a guy with an injury like tmac had 2 yrs removed from it.

i just can't wait for tmac to show what he has to offer.

I mean I would defintely support a trade where we send Tmac+role player for Kobe. But I just don't understand why would lakers do that. Would that put them right where they were? :)

If they were to trade kobe, it will be for solid trade assets plus draft picks. And rocket's draft picks are not worth a dime right now. So I don't know how this is going to work out. It really depends on what Laker's management wants to do. Maybe they just want to blow it up, and if that's the case the least thing they would want is a "kobe equivalent" with same contract who will probably be pissed off after being traded, right?

So don't automatically assume they would want Tmac. I won't be suprised seeing a tmac-yao-kobe combo. (nba would want their tv rating to go back to the jordan days right? maybe "god" will help us) We will see what the lakers really want, I don't think they know that themselves right now.

Very respectable post... until the last paragraph. Are you saying that you 'have to defend him (Tmac)' by dissing another Rockets player (Yao)? I hope you can convince me that I have read it wrong. If that's really the case, you are a prime example of a player-only-fan. I guess now I understand why some people have called you a Tmac-only-fan before.

i'm not dissing yao. i'm just trying to hopefully show to the guys who have criticized tmac by showing what "criticizing" another rockets players is all about.
unfortunately, they're not seeing my point (to guys like yao_fan_2007 or abcdef and so on).

i'm a fellow asian so i follow yao ever since i've heard about him in the draft. i love his work ethic. i love how he respects his opponents (no matter what they do to him during a game). i love how he is humble and does not led any attention tmac or anyone in the NBA (like amare/howard/shaq) deter him from his main goal (which is to help his team win). i love how he listens to EVERY player or coach who wants to impart their advice onto him. well basically, yao is one of the greatest individual human beings in the sports world.

but again, whenever i see a post that disses tmac by yao fans, i feel like i should post the "other" side to see how it would be from the "other" side if i was to talk about yao. and ima keep doing that.

if people praise tmac and diss yao, i would do the same things. i live in LA and ALWAYS hear ppl diss yao and i've defended him in those arguments.

but o well. it is what it is.

it literally doesn't matter what t-mac has to offer when you compare him to kobe.

to be better than kobe, you'd have to be the best player in the league.

What's your point, after spending like 50 posts in this thread trash talking about Yao?? A big man with talent like that is IRREPLACEABLE in this league and that's why he's untouchable. Bigs with talent don't come along that often and that's why Portland gambled on Oden. Yao and T-Mac both made mistakes in the playoff last season and they both owned up to it. Nobody is sidestepping the responsibility.

The only reason people are willing to give up Tmac for Kobe is because we got some many of them in this league. Kobe, Wade, Arenas, Tmac, Lebron, Melo...etc. If one, who's skills are clearly better, is on the trading block then people have the right to entertain that option.

It's business as usual. Don't get so personal. Just because people here are discussing the possibility of trading Tmac for Kobe doesn't mean you can spend 50 posts dissing about Yao is so weak and how he lost it for this team. And then in the end you have the nerve to come out by saying how you are Asian and how much you love Yao after giving him a bashing all night long.

I might've criticized Tmac's work ethic in a previous thread but I never said he was to blame for our loss last season. It's was everyone's fault, including JVG. Don't be a hypocrite.

He "knows" somebody that works for the Rockets that "told" him confidential info of a planned trade proposal to be completed 4-5 months from now. Perfect strangers that met through playing "online games" yet the guy tells him something simply huge like that simply because they're from the same city.

    Anybody else believe him?!?!

On that note, Ric Bucher just had a stroke with that news.....

i don't think this is a good deal for rockets although i'm a Kobe fan. kobe is not a good parter for Yao. trade will harm the chemistry of this team. right now, Rockets are good enough to achieve their goal. so, forget it.

As ludicrous as this trade sounds, I'm sure the entire BBS would go bananas if this trade happened. We don't even need Francis. Kobe-Mac-Scola-Yao are good for championships for at least the next half-decade. :D :D

Plausible. But highly unlikely. Morey's big on getting back fair value on his players. And as great and individually talented as Kobe is, he's not worth Tmac, Bonzi AND Scola.

I don't think we pulled that heist from the Spurs for Scola to solve our long-running PF problem just to trade him away in March.

IF Kobe were to come - and it's a big IF - I'd say, it'll be just for Tmac + high-salary guys like James/Alston and Bonzi/Francis, just to make the salaries work.

This sounds like a fanboy's fantasy more than real insider scoop.

Oh com'on guys, are you a Rox fan or a [insert rox player] fan?

For Rox's stake, anyone besides Yao Ming is movable if we could get Kobe. <EOS>.
