Hah. Are you serious? For starters, how about the years after Olajuwon and before Yao. There are many other years to cite too if you want to dig through the history books.
After listening to Dean Cooper's presentation at an event today, I now fully understand the complexities of making trades, especially for a blockbuster player. Those complexities make it extremely difficult to change the face of your franchise for one player, making it highly unlikely to bring into fruition. Unless someone is well versed in NBA contracts and the business aspect of managing a NBA team, throwing out trade ideas is done only with a superficial view of the play of the player, not on the likelihood it'll happen. Give up fantasizing and cheer for the team we have, its really worth supporting!
I'm sure he'll be okay I've heard rumors he's getting s divorce so he can get all the cucci he wants. Anyways, we'd have to trade t-mac and all our young talent like Luther, Aaron, Scola, and Butler to make it work. I'm all for selling my soul as long as we win a ring or two.
In this fantasy world, I'm sure that would probably be the case.... but ... <a href="http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=115495">cough</a>.
yes you are right about being the best team without a great center, but sadly that isn't asking too much in any case my point is this, the rockets have had so many awesome centers in their history, hayes, malone, sampson when healthy, hakeem, and now yao, for me it is the identity of the houston rockets, yeah, rockets can be a team without a great center and win, but it is the identity of the team. do i think the rockets can be a better team with kobe and yao than kobe with tmac, in my opinion yes, because kobe and tmac are the same type of players, long, athletic, world class talent. in my opinion it's better to mix it up with different types of abilities, but hey who am i to say that, rockets went with 2 centers at one point and it got them to the finals.
The trade rumor was true but some things changed and it killed the trade. don't blame me I just reported on what i heard.
Like you, I am a Rocket fan Always....and I have only seen a sample size of Kobe also...With that said I like most of america have been force feed a diet of Kobe on ESPN.... I have heard that his teammates dont like him......former and current. From the publications I have read non of his team mates have nice things to say about him. So I guess you left that out.
not only that but when you watch them play they hardly ever 'high 5' kobe after a foul or run over to help him up when he hits the floor.
if we fail to get outta the first round (and i personally expect wcf at least), then I'd say my confidence in Tmac would be lost. If we get knocked out first round once again, then Tmac goes on trading block for me regardless of how much I respect him and see him and Yao leading us to a championship ... But I doubt this will happen. I can see Tracy upping his game in a championship game. I think he has enough in him and will give him the benefit of some doubt about whether he can win big games. But ya, if we fail again this year, I'd look to trade him for a proven winner like Kobe (though I dont like Kobe too much ... his arrogance ... though he can back it up). But by then, Kobe would be off the table as he'd be traded to another team.
Tmac is nothing compare to Kobe. Tmac is just a streak shooter where as Kobe is clutch and can get hot when ever he wants. Tmac keeps missing free throws and i am sick of people making excuses for him. When you're a superstar, you don't or rarely miss free throw (see Yao) and you don't keep struggling "UNTIL you have to get into rhyme," or "find consistency"!! He look more and more like one of those good players but not reliable on a consistent basis. Add to the fact that Tmac pale compare to Bryant when it comes to hunger and competitiveness. You look at Tmac on the court and he seems to relax too much and smile as if he doesn't care if he's missed or not....and "OCCASIONALLY" show fire. He's not as good as he used to be back in his Orlando days. So why wouldn't you trade Tmac for Kobe?? It's a no brainer...
Yao + Kobe does anyone see any connections their? I will become a Rockets fan if Kobe goes to the Rockets and I will ask for a name change
Kobe can win us the Championship. T-Mac can't. What is the definition of a TOF? Someone who cares more about T-Mac remaining on the Rockets than trading him so we can win the Championship.
I know Kobe has some friendship with Scola since i saw them converse during the FIBA game and i know Kobe definitely want to be playing with Yao...who wouldn't?? Even more so because he's the #1 in jersey sell in China. Yao + Kobe equal instant championship where as Yao and Tmac...you just don't know.
Not the broken-down old version of Shaq that we see now, but if I could trade Yao now for a prime Duncan or prime Shaq, I'd do it in a heartbeat, and I love Yao to death. Prime Shaq/Duncan are simply better than Yao; hell Duncan now is still better than Yao. That's why I'd trade McGrady for Kobe; you're just getting a superior player, chemistry be damned.
