I personally disagree with trading T-Mac for Kobe. Not because I think T-mac is the better player (on the contrary, you, I and almost everyone on this planet know that Kobe Bryant is the best SG there is), but I think because in terms of skillset and chemistry, T-Mac is the best fit for THIS TEAM and the PLAYERS around him. Kobe would immediately have issues with: Mike James, Rafer Alston, Steve Francis, Yao Ming (yes, Yao too).
Damn, please don't repeat history like the Barkley trade where the Rockets gave up Sam Cassell, Robert Horry,Chucky Brown, and Mark Bryant.
Here's another writer blogging that we would be interested: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/knicks/2007/10/isiah_mum_on_kobe_trade_offer.html "If Kobe is traded -- I still believe he will sign an extension with the Lakers -- the front runners appear to be Chicago and Dallas. Thomas would certainly make a run at Kobe and you can bet that the Rockets, Suns, Raptors, Clippers, Magic and Bobcats will all be in the running, too." I love TMac, but I would trade his bad back + Luther + one of our PGs for Kobe in a second.
i think another "untouchable" player right now is scola, he truly complements yao and fits well in adelman's system
Kobe is an ego maniac. He would never be happy sharing the spot light with another big man. I seriously believe he is happy winning the scoring title and making the playoffs and having a quick exit...so long as he is number in jersy sales and has all of LA puffing the kobe blunt.
I love T-Mac just as much as the next guy but getting Kobe is somthing I just wouldn't be able to pass up...
I hate this stuff, but the fact is it sells. An employee with the Rockets several, several years ago told me something that stuck with me. This was way back when pre-Yao and when Shaquille O'Neal was in his prime. It went something like: "If you asked me 'Are the Rockets interested in Shaq?' -- uh, no ****. But unless you lie, the headline the next day is 'Rockets interested in Shaq'." There is nothing there. No quotes. No mention of a source even. Nothing. Great job Justice ... the Rockets would be interested in Kobe? Uh, no ****. P.S. Only one Kobe-to-Rockets speculation thread until there is something credible. This ain't it.
I must say that I would have great difficulty being a Rocket fan if Kobe Bryantbecame part of team, especially if T-macand a bunch of others were given up. Kobe is not what the Rox need. He's not ready to let Yao be number one, and I doubt he'd trust anyone on the team to shoot the ball. So pretty much...I hate him. (haha)
Not gonna happen, but just throw this out there for fun: Kobe for Head, James, Sura, Shane Battier, and a first rounder
I hope we don't trade for him. I'm pulling for T-Mac to get out of the first round, and I want him to do it as a Rocket. What a sad career it would be for him to get traded to a hopeless franchise like the LA Lakers at this point. Without Kobe, it's not like Phil Jackson is going to stick around.
if we can keep yao/scola/battier/wells/alston and one of james or sf3, and get kobe, I am all for it.
Agree... Still I think this is day-dreamin, we have incredible team that doesn't need one Kobe Bryant.
I don't think that was justice's point. He's being an armchair GM like most of us are. I am sure morey doesn't listen to a word anyone says on here. I am glad he doesn't.
to make this statement is beyond the realm of reality. THIS is definitely not happening. if someone were to offer up the whole team for yao and say to you, hey man, these are real good role players, what would your reaction be?
