what? west just took over this year! that surely aint a good indication. kobe was a HUUUUUGE question mark. that wasn't just a lucky guess.

battiers numbers are so-so for last year! when he was new to the league, he was not known, so he put up decent numbers on a really crappy team. big deal, there is a reason he is riding the pine. he is not putting up numbers at all this season. THAT is why he will be let go. 'sides, why oh why do you people insist on splitting up a very talented team after a few games? just hang loose and let these guys play. damn.

oh, and by the way, there is the duke curse. name one consistantly good duke alum....

    Grant Hill, Elton Brand.

You might question Battier stats but it is hard to shoot well for a bad team. The 43% & 37%(3s) shooting as a swingman on a terrible team is impressive, especially for a rookie. The Grizzlies have the best rookie in the league so far (Gooden) eating up their SF minutes and have two new SGs--that is why Battier minutes are down. Battier also gets a good number of steals and blocks for his position.

Battier is a role player however, and the Grizzlies need more firepower from the 2/3. We don't need that firepower--a role player who is smart, an excellent spot up shooter, and who plays good defense--fits our team quite well. Think a younger Rick Fox with better hops and movement (a little more apt for some PT at the 2 than Fox is) coupled with just as much smarts but less dirtyness--I think that is a good addition.

That said, worth Boki (and Collier for a throw in), I don't know. It isn't "splitting up the team" because Boki isn't playing at all and Collier won't once Cato is back. If Hawkins fades any time soon I might say yes if Memphis wants Boki enough and wants to get rid of Battier enough. Of course I hope Hawkins has staying power and we get to see Boki shine here (plus I never like routing for Dukies)--but this is a business and you always look for adding another piece.

ok you got me on the good duke guys, but they are as scarce as a gay republican. for those two, there are tons others that were busts.

anyway, no. no trades. it is too early to tell. i say you have to give it a year if not two before you start tinkering. this is a new team, as far as guys that have played together. also, this is a new offensive set, and i like boki and t-mo. those two guys can probably do everything battier can do and they allready have learned the way this team works. 'sides battier is just not very good this year. he stunk it up in preseason, and from all the sports analyists i've heard have said that battier is not on the bench just because of the guys in front of him. remember, langhi? well, a rook (tmo) doesn't play in front of you if you are any good. thats just a fact.

just watch and enjoy! AND STOP WITH ALL THE DAMN TRADE SCENARIOS!!!
i thought all this garbage would be over once the season started!:p

Corey Maggette. Jay Williams. Mike Dunleavy Jr. They all have promising careers ahead of them. William Avery was a bust.

By the way, it's not that Battier is sitting the bench on a very bad team. The Grizz are as talented as any other team in the league. The only problem is that they don't play together as a team (hmmm...sound familiar?). As soon as the Grizz learns how to play some defense, and share the ball a little bit they'll be fine. They're 2-deep at just about every position. Give these 22-yr olds a few more years before you write them off.

Oh, and this circle-jerk over Jerry West is obscene. We're talking about the same guy who dealt Eddie Jones and Elden Campbell in their primes for Fat Rice. And, for the record, Kobe said he only wanted to play in LA, so the Hornets were forced to trade him to LA after drafting him.

Would be sweet if the trade could go through, but the Grizz dont want anyone we have (that we'll actually give up), and I dont wanna give up Nachbar for him cuz i think Boki will eventually be betta than Battier in the long run if hes given a chance to play. Cmon Rudy, PLAY BOKI!!
