Stone took such a sigh of relief when we got #3. It literally takes all of the pressure out of his job this draft, as it is a 3 man draft. Why give that up? Who cares about fans? You gotta look out fo yo paper

I'd be okay with the trade if the front office believes moving up one spot gets us a much better player.

Nah its dumb to move up. Remember when Philly moved up for Fultz? And Fultz was the consensus no 1 at the time, not like this draft where all 3 are seen on the same tier.

Id rsther use 17 to up to the low lotto.

Would give up Nets 2026 FRP in addition to do this trade.

I don't think we should trade up. Judging from the clamor about the top 3 picks, chet, jabari and paolo I don't think the hype is there to go all in to trade up 2 space

    maybe true
i think all 3 are very close talent-wise and seems all good characters, but it doesn't mean they'll help a particular team to be as successful the same way. when the talents are equal the "FIT" factor kicks in

The closer we get to draft day, the stronger I feel trading up is the way to go. No disrespect to Banchero. I won’t be upset if we end up with him, I like his offensive game and he may end up as the best of the bunch. It’s just that I think we have something good in Sengun and KPJ, that we should keep and nurture. And drafting Banchero will likely make both Sengun and KPJ redundant, hurt their trade value and their development. Jabari is a much better fit with the pieces we have in place today. We will be much closer to becoming a good team if we draft Jabari or even Chet. Getting Banchero makes our journey a year or two longer; and even when start contending, I am not sure we can go all the way with two offence-first stars.

There's been enough material now to show the defensive issues of Banchero are way overstated imo, ppl act like he's zero defense and also ignore the defensive issues that Jabari&Chet have in some areas.

Would love to trade up. No way it happens with OKC. Only way it happens witth Orlando is if they really value Banchero or Ivey as high as Jabari/Chet.

    REMINIDER:

The 23 Bucks pick is a GIannis knee injury away from the lottery.

Exactly, selling that pick now is selling low. Nowhere for the value of that pick to go but up.

EG is another injury away from being even less valuable than he already is.

OKC is putting up SGA for #4. They want to get Ivey and Chet on rookie deals for 4 years plus have max cap space available to either take in a contract like Russ for a first or to sign free agents with and to get Dort signed to a reasonable extension for probably half the max.

That's why this is not just about the players themselves. This is about rebuilding teams in the same Conference that are going to be squaring off against one another to hopefully get to the Finals.

So the future landscape of both teams needs to be considered. If OKC is able to get both Chet and Ivey and still have a shot at VW next season to go with Giddey, Tre Mann, dDort, etc. then that's substantial. They could actually miss out on VW, go sign Nikola, and it's off to the races in 23-24 for them with a core of Giddey, Ivey, Chet, Nikola, Mann, Dort....plus whoever else they draft at 12...(Duren/Hardy/Sochan), etc.

It's like an arms race with OKC. Even more so than Detroit because Detroit is in the East and OKC is in the West. Presti is very crafty in the draft and has already done this once before, getting 3 great players back-to-back and being able to run them 7-8 seasons before major decisions have to be made in regards to free agency. OKC isn't a free agent destiny. They're like Utah. They have to win through the draft and managing the cap so that they have the ultimate trade flexibility when great players become available.

That's how you know that SGA is on the table for the 4th pick.

We have to destroy that momentum for OKC by taking Ivey and peddling away Wood and EGo (and Nwaba's if possibly) salaries so we are the cap space team that can take on Russ free and clear for a first or sign Joker or Harden ourselves.

Imagine wasting assets to trade up for a 3&D player. Stone is not that crazy.

    This post is just everywhere.

OKC is not a free agent destination but they'll still sign a back to back MVP in Nikola?

Lemme explain better. OKC could leverage itself into one superstar free agent signing if it has the team built out to accomodate the superstar. Giddey, Chet, Ivey, and Mann/Dort plus whatever else they collect with their picks...may be enough to turn a guy like Jokic's head.

But if not.....their backup plan is to use their cap space to acquire more assets. K.

The point is it's an arms race between us and OKC. If we're going to win future championships we will likely have to go through Presti to get them. Because Presti is a great GM and has already proven he knows how to put a great team together without the benefit of having a great free agent sign with them.
