#1 The Blazers can have nothing and nobody from our team.

#2 This thread sucks. We are about to rock the Lakers in 15ish hours. Lock it up.

I think the OP if just a Portland fan trying to have an honest conversation. I don't see the need for some of these replies and the 1-star rating.

The Blazers are an up-and-coming team loaded with talent. We very well may be looking up at them for several years wishing we had a number of their players.

WHy the **** would we trade either Battier or Ron? It is the most dominate defensive duo in the league and most definitely not worth Rudy ****ing fernandez

I'm not saying I feel this way but the core of our team is aging and you can already see Morey slowly making a youth movement. It's one thing if you are an aging team that is clearly a contender but only a homer wouldn't admit that we have glaring weaknesses.

Battier or Ron for Rudy and Batum would be a very enticing offer but I don't think Portland would give up that much. It would give us an up-and-coming perimeter defender (Batum) who also happens to have athleticism (something we don't have much of), basketball IQ and offensive abilities. He may not pan out but his first year was very impressive for those that watched the Blazers enough. Rudy would give us at the very minimum a quality backup SG who, like Batum, possesses athleticism and basketball IQ as well as a lethal outside shot. There is a reason Morey was interested in him much like there was a reason the Spurs were interested in Batum.

I'd go for a Aldridge/Batum for Artest/Scola or Landry deal. I like the idea of Aldridge canning jumpers off Yao's double teams and Batum can produce much of what Ron would give us defensively, but I'm not sure if Portland would part with Aldridge since it seems like they've got a good thing going with him and Roy.

I would do a Aldridge+Fernandez for Artest deal.

After that I would trade Aldridge for Amare I know the suns where interested. Or trade Aldridge for a proven PG or a proven SG.

If that deal doesn't go through, I would only like Roy.

The downside to this stockpile-as-much-talent-as-possible strategy that Portland has taken up is the harsh reality that even despite Bird Rights and what not, you simply can't afford to keep everybody.

So from that standpoint it definitely does make sense to keep an eye on how Portland handles extending everybody and/or moving guys they may not want to keep. I think we're all dreaming if we really think we have a shot at Aldridge, though.

Are you watching the same Rockets team I am?

    1) If the Rockets wanted Batum, they would have kept him after they drafted him

    2) The Rockets are not that old of a team, they have a pretty good mix of youth and vets. Aaron, Kyle, Von, Carl, Chuck, and White are all very young and Artest and Yao are in the prime of their careers.

    3) This is the most athletic Rockets team we have had in years (Brooks, Lowry, Von, Landry, Barry, Yao, etc.)

    4) Morey found his Fernandez in Von Wafer, they are nearly identical in their style of play

    5) You really are willing to give up RON ****ING ARTEST (the guy playing the best basketball on this team) for 2 rookies whose ceilings are not very high?

    6) Yes, we have some weaknesses, none of which could be solved by Batum or Fernandez

Portland isn't giving up their young talent unless they can get something better. Portland has the deepest pockets in the NBA. You have to remember, they were aiming at another max contract before they had to extend Roy and LA. Memphis screwed them with Darius Miles.

The only player I see them giving up is Outlaw and thats because he's not that good.

Oden sucks in regular season. I would say the value of Brooks and his are pretty even.

I agree with this. keeping the team like it is now a better option anyway.

As long as I've been on BBSs I've never understood trade threads...nobody is the GM, what's the point?

And it's usually some fan from one team overestimating the value of one of their players to 'get' another...
