With teams like the Knicks looking for size, its difficult to imagine McDyess wanting to come to Houston.

Trade with St Jean and Golden State???

Pffft

No offense, Swopa, but I would love to see the Rockets f*ck St Jean the way he f*cked Marc Jackson!

You guys are crazy, jamison is a potential all-star, remember when he scored 102 points in 2 games? besides that, he can easily average 25 points and 8 boards, he can play the 3 and the 4. we can even pry away a center from golden state, like dampier or foyle to go along with jamison. PLUS we would also have the #3 pick!!! its basically the #1 pick because we werent takin jay williams anyway, and ming is unlikely to be happy in a city like houston. we can take wagner and trade him, or draft dunleavy who is highly regarded by rudy t. or we can draft a big man. the #3 pick is a VERY vauable spot.

Folks,

Small Forwards and Shooting Gaurds can always be drafted lower down, or in the next few years. They can also be acquired or traded for. Basically, there are many that can fill that role and many options to fill that role.

Now if we talk center - you know where this league is in terms of centers. It is so thin when it comes to centers that I would seriously consider keeping Cato.

Bottom line - roll the dice and take Ming. If he doesn't work out - we still have a good, if not great team. If he does work out - we're #1.

There is not one trade in this entire thread that is even remotely possible.

With teams like the Knicks looking for size, its difficult to imagine McDyess wanting to come to Houston.

The Knicks still have the same problem, they're way, way over the cap and they don't have players that other teams want.
How in the world are the Knicks going to acquire McDyess? They're only real option would be to offer Sprewell, but adding Sprewell to a Nugs team minus McDyess would be ugly. If Denver trades McDyess, they need to get some younger bodies in return.

Nothing as logical as Van Excel and LaFrenz for Howard? Or Brand for Chandler?

Is getting Dampier or Foyle a good thing? They're not really that much different than Cato. Jamison wouldn't average 25 a game with us, he simply wouldn't get enough shots to put up those kind of numbers.

Olowokandi can not be part of a draft day trade as he is a Qualifying Offer FA and his actual 2002-2003 salary will vary depending upon what team(s) bid for his services. Further, it would be difficult for the Clipps to draft player(s) for the Rockets on the assumption of resigning Kandi.

If these hurdles are overcome, then the Rockets still need to give the Clipps a (CBA) contract equal to Kandi-mans new contract as the Rocks are over the cap.

If the Rockets get McDyess, I think his Bird Rights transfer and the Rockets will be able to match other offers. I think Dice would stay given the team is successful.

I don't really care if it's Ming or MyDyess, but we can't make the WC finals with Cato, MoT, KT, or EG (current skilll level) as our low post offensive options. Forget SF, success starts closer to the basket.

Back on topic - I echo Jeff's sentiments about this whole #1 thing being weird.

Other than the Clippers I think a trade with the Knicks is the most entriguing for one reason.

LeBron James

We could get Spree, Camby, #7 this year and their unconditional #1 next year.

With out Spree and Camby the Knicks win the lotto next year and we are really sitting in the catbird seat. And the #7 this year will bring some tallent anyway.

Or we could draft a DyNASTY!! Ming that is.:) :D :p :D
