The key is a backup center as everyone knows....The Rockets are at fault for his injury's...He shouldn't be playing against teams like Memphis,Sacramento,OKC, and we struggle to beat those teams and he plays 35+ a game vs these teams
Okay, so you might not like the trade scenarios, then fine I'll accept your opinion there although I disagree. however, do you honestly think Yao will be healthy and playing? If he isn't playing he's no more valuable then kelvin Cato. I don't see Yao having any more seasons where he is healthy for a majority of the season or the playoffs. And in the playoffs, he'll just get doubled and be taken out of the game, and outside of that we have no other closer so basically we don't have any guy to finish games for us because Yao can't finish games and when he's doubled there is no other star on our team who can close games either so we don't have any real power to go that far.
It's sad that you focused on the "insult" and not on the message before. But I guess when Jerry Stackhouse put up 30 a game in 2001 for Detroit (a team with no weapons) he must have been the best forward in the game
1. No, your arguments have been anythign but solid. 2. OK, here's why Yao is valuable: He does command at least a double, and sometimes more on the offensive end. This not only opens up shooters but would also allow an athletic power forward to score easy points inside. The Rockets do not have an athletic PF, and we need one. Scola and Landry, as much as I like them, are too small. If Yao is covered singly, he can destroy just about anyone in the League. Portland has BIG centers and large PFs. As a result, they could take Yao out of the game. And what happened? Other Rockets had more than enough oppurtunities to score. But you might say, "oh, they're just really good..." except for the fact that the "heroes" changed every game. if might be Brooks one game, Artest another, and Scola in a different one. THAT is the sign of Yao opening up the floor for everyone else. If we had a big 4, we could really take advantage of this, in addition to solving the fronting problem. And don't kid yourselves, the Rockets, while they did take the Lakers to 7 without Yao, did so not because they had the talent, but because they had incredible heart and the Lakers fell asleep in Houston. We didn't have a chance in games 5 or 7. I'd be willing to trade Yao for equivalent value, but I just don't see anyone out there that we could get for him.
Actaully Mutombo was a damn good back up center last season and one of the best in the league when he got to play. Problem was he got hurt as well.
The Rockets are the 6th most valuable franchise in the NBA. If it's not the franchise directly getting money from China, it's TV contracts, shoe deals, merchanidse, NET WORTH. Any team with Yao will see a boost in sales not only in the US or China, but worldwide. Yao is popular like Lebron. I am only defending the one argument that Yao does not bring money. That statement is extremely naive and your thread utterly fails, sir.
Once again you're better at passing off insults than talking basketball. Bringing Stackhouse into this is about as useless as you've been all day. Lol! Stick to the insults.
My question is how do we get the clowns to stop making garbage 1 star threads? Though you may think you are making a good point, you have no idea how r****ded you sound when you propose trades like Yao for Thabeet. Go look at the draft in the last decade and you'll find 20 Tskitishvili/Stromile level center/pf drafted in the lottery for every Yao level center/pf. Even if Thabeet becomes a decent player in a few years, is that enough to win a championship? I think spoiled children like you have never appreciated what you have. For some reason, you always insist on trading your quarter for two nickels.
That's twice that you have ignored my argument about stats and quality of teammates. The fact that you don't even understand my point says it all. Done here. Enjoy
Do you remember getting blown out by 40points in game 5? Do you remember losing game 7 by over 20points? Do you think the Lakers were playing at their best in game 4 and 6? Do you think Thabeet would have gotten us past LA?? Last year's team without Yao for the whole year may be able to squeak into the playoffs, but it's doubtful they get out of the first round. You talk about selling high when Yao's is at a low. If you want to sell high you should be looking to trade the players that overperformed in the Lakers series. Doubtful if Brooks' value will ever be higher than it is now.
Whomever said he didn't bring money? don't remember anyone saying that? I don't root for Alexander's net worth. I root for the team he owns to win championships which is the Rockets.
And I guessed you're still stupid to understand last year stat of Yao vs Jefferson. So explain to me in detail smart guy. Stop going in circles. So pull up and stats sheet and explain to me or shut the hell up.
Exactly, the man is brittle, and you do not extend maximum contract extensions to brittle players, and yet that's exactly what the Rockets plan to do, since he makes so much money for Les.
I am not sure if I agree about trading Yao, but I do agree with the OP on one thing after reading 2-3 pages of this thread, since when do fans care so MUCH about financial well being of the owner??? Lets assume we trade Yao and we get better, winning will take care of everything! We might not make as much, but the organization will be just fine financially. I say lets listen to offers for Yao and go from there. If we get really good players, lets do it. Otherwise, lets roll the dice again on Yao!
