How about posting both of their stat lines from last season? Don't think you look smart by cherry picking stats that paint a picture that isn't truthful. Go talk to someone outside of HOuston that follows basketball and doesn't jerk off to Yao Ming's 7'6 stature and try telling them that Yao's better than Jefferson or Howard and you'll get laughed at.
Why trade Yao for Amare when you can get Amare for McGrady? Amare has had his share of injuries too. Yao for Thabeet is just terrible. Of the proposals you mentioned the only one I like is the one for Durant, but I doubt OKC do it. The problem with trading Yao is the same flaws you see in him, other teams do too. He isn't a tier 1 superstar like James, Wade, Bryant so you won't be getting them. Your only options are other stars with flaws (1 dimensional, injury history etc), a bunch of role players, and we already have those, or draft picks. We just got into the second round, now is not the time to blow the whole thing up and trade Yao for picks.
Yao's better than Howard seriously. though his glass foot is worrisome. terrible time to try to trade him...his value is at an all-time low
I'm really starting to begin you either don't really watch basketball that often, watch basketball but can't understand what is happening, or you're not even a Rockets fan.. Who exactly is the best center in the league and why?
could the rox made it to the playoffs with Brooks, Scola, Landry, Battier and Artest w/out yao? hmmm....
Texxx: If you're going to propose trading Yao, I think you have to start with the teams that are suffering financially...since Yao has the "cash cow" label. New Orleans borrowed $250MM last year. They're definitely strapped for $. Yao for Chandler/CP3 is a pipedream, imo, but then again, they are in serious economic peril and if Yao is a valuable to a team owner as people say, then maybe George Shinn bites on it. Milwaukee is struggling financially, as well. Yao for Sessions/Bogut/Redd/pick would definitely catch my attention. NJ, I think, is struggling, as well. Yao for Devin Harris/Boone/pick. Of course, with all of those scenarios, filler can be added to match salaries....
We should be rooting for Les Alexander's net worth because that is what keeps us from joining financial woes several teams around the league are experiencing as a result of the economic recession.. It gives us the ability to exploit teams instead of being one of the teams looking to dump salary...
Man you are an idiot. First you comparing Yao stats to Jefferson and now someone pull up Yao stat sheet comparing to Jefferson you make excuses. Man shut the heck up already. Why don't you pull up their stats sheet and I would like you play by play comments for a nice laugh.
How are you blowing anything up by trading one guy???? Where do you come up with this stuff? Do you not remember the Rockets beating the NBA champs TWICE in that series WITHOUT YAO. All you'd be doing is adding talent to an already stacked team and getting rid of a guy that won't be healthy any way. And we can trade Tmac for Amare??? stop dreaming dude. We can trade Tmac for Amare plus Brooks and Landry. Brooks was our closer in the post season.
HAHA that was my point exactly... You wanted us to post stats to compare Jefferson and Yao... while my argument was that you can't determine who's the better player based on stats alone. You go on to say "WHAT HAS YAO DONE IN THE PLAYOFFS." So, in an attempt to poke fun of you, I post their stats as you requested... Revealing, isn't it? LOL. And I gaurantee you, anyone who knows a lick about nba ball would take Yao over Al Jefferson anyday... like I said... Jefferson's impact on the game is no where near the same level as Yao's. Yao vs Dwight is definitely debatable.
You obviously have no idea how the quality of players surrounding someone affects their stats. STFU already
WOW!! Now that would be an excellent idea that I didn't think about before. Yao and Brooks for CP3 and Chandller? Not bad of an idea. It would probably have to be a little different than that, but throwing Yao into that scenario just might get it done to get CP over here.
Yes you're right, there are only about 4 or 5 good centers in the league making them RARE and we have arguably one that is in the top 2 but you want to get rid of him. It's not important to other teams because they dont have TALENT at that position but we do, we have a guy that puts up 20/10 a night shooting over 50% from the field and above 85% from the line. Some of the trade scenarios I've seen I would not take: Thomas, Noah, and Heinrich from the Bulls for Yao? How does that make us better? Thomas is Stromile Swift 2.0, Noah is good but gives you just rebounding and defense, and Heinrich is expensive and gives us 3 point guards. That deal gives us ZERO low post presence and no go to guy aside from Artest, which isn't a good recipe for winning.
Isn't that the entire point? How many teams have players that require double teams? (imo not that many) Granted not all teams will need to double but having a player that a majority of teams will need to double is the entire reason. It creates space for other players to work. Even in the Portland series, if they have a player and a half guarding Yao. That leaves opportunity for other players to create and attack.
Keep calling other "dumb" and "stupid" doesn't make you look smart. According to your logic, Les and the Rockets organization are so stupid that they haven't traded Yao? Why did they keep saying to the media that they wanted to resign Yao? There must be something else behind that you and I don't know. There's a reason why Les wants to keep Yao. It may be basketball or business related. Who knows. Some people claimed that Yao brought Les a lot of money. I am not sure if it's a fact. But you couldn't prove that statement is wrong since you don't know the truth either. Yeah, you can say whatever you want. But if the organization doesn't want to trade him, what do you do as a fan? Give up on the Rockets? Angry? Upset? Take it easy. Yao will be eventually traded. Very few players in NBA have not been traded during their NBA careers. Even Dream was traded at the end of his career. However, at this point, I doubt a trade involving Yao would happen. If I was a manager, I would trade Yao when he is in good shape. Trading a player when he's injured would not bring you anything at equal or close values.
WOW this thread is full of stupid posts. I respect and appreciate Yoa as a player and person as much as anyone here but there comes time when you have to make tough decisions that are in the best interest of the team. His latest injury marks the fourth consecutive year his season was either ended or interrupted by a bone injury. In February 2008, Yao suffered a stress fracture in his left foot, sidelining him for the remainder of the season. Had we made the playoffs he would not have been available. In December 2006, he suffered a hairline fracture on his right anterior medial tibial plateau (leg) and missed 32 games before returning late in the season. He missed the final four games of the 2005-06 season after fracturing the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot. Had we made the playoffs he would not have been available. The 2008-09 campaign had been the most injury-free since the first three seasons of Yao’s career, over which he missed just two games. We made the playoffs and had we gotten past the second round he would not have been available. Yoa is a great person and I want him to win us a champoinship as bad as anyone but its starting to become painfully obvious that he is not physically capable of enduring the rigors of a long NBA season. Its not his fault and its not the Rockets fault, its just a sad fact that he is too big and his body cant take the pounding neccessary to be the centerpeice that you build a team around to win a championship. I absolutely hate saying that but its reality. Im not necessarily saying we should trade him but at the very least this has to be taken into consideration when resigning him. Can we afford to pay a max contract to a guy (even a great guy like Yoa) that has this kind of injury history? Have we learned nothing from TMac? Bash me if you will with stupid one liners and unintelligent posts (like most in this thread) but you all know what is going to happen when the guy the team is built around is sitting on the bench injured when the game counts the most.
