Thanks, but I expected a bunch of clowns to show up in this thread with the typical rhetoric like "you're a hater!" and immature side jabs like that. ANy time someone uses the "hater" card it just means they can't make a valid argument and have nothing to add. I just laugh at that point. I'm just trying to get the rest of this fan base to open up their eyes to reality that Yao won't be healthy and he's not that great of a player any way. Drafting a guy from China has actually been one of the worst mistakes this team could have ever made. We made that ridiculous deal when we drafted Yao that we would let him play in China every off season which is EXACTLY WHY HE CAN"T STAY HEALTHY. You can't expect a guy his size to do that every season and stay healthy for 82 games a season in the NBA. That's ridiculous. It's all down hill from here. Yes, he's a great guy and all, but unfortunately he has more loyalty to his country and that team over there than he does for the Rockets or he'd be spending his off seasons resting his body. It doesn't matter that he's not playing for China in this off season. The damage is already done. People can constantly talk about how Les is making so much money off of him, but they sound like a bunch of nut huggers for Alexander's net worth. Lol! I mean seriously, what does his "China revenue" have to do with building a top team in the NBA? Absolutely nothing at all. Les has always made money in this league and in this city and has always tried to build top teams. Making a little extra cash in China has not made even one remote difference in improving this team. It's by far the most over rated and talked about myth I've heard for years. If guys want to root for Les Alexander's Chinese Revenue pool then go and intern for him, but I'll be rooting for the ROckets and no Les's net worth. I'm concerned about the future of this team, not how Les's stock portfolio. He's a rich guy and always has been and always will be. Time to cut ties with China, because this relationship hasn't given us squat but one year out of the first round of the playoffs where once again Yao Ming went down.
Some people ask the dumbest questions I swear. You ever heard of perceived value before? Well right now teams will still look at Yao like he could be the missing piece to their puzzle. Plenty of teams out there might want to trade a good star that doesn't fit well with their team like the Grizz did with Gasol or how Minnesota did with Garnett because it isn't working over there just like it isn't working with Yao over here. News flash people we've only gotten out of the first round with Yao once! and he still got hurt! Sometimes teams may have a great player but they've been their to long and they just need a change of scenery and to be around a new coach and a new group of players. That's what the Timberwolves did with Garnett and the Grizz did with Gasol and both the Lakers and the Wolves both won championships. The Rockets aren't going to win any championships with Yao as the #1 or #2 guy. That's already been proven. Hell, they have yet to make it out of the 2nd round and he wasn't even there for all of the games in that series. You trade players when they have the highest perceived value especially when you know that they are fading away and their best years are behind them. You don't hold on to them until everyone around the league doesn't want to touch them after 4 straight seasons of injury once Yao goes down again this year. You trade him to the first succer that will give you some important pieces for your future.
Ah I see he's secretly tired of Mcgrady...isnt everyone? as far as being a pf's game...I believe Orlando is formed around their center...and Jefferson didnt finish the season on a healthy leg buddy...
You actually make some valid points, but it's hard to take your post as anything more than a troll when you thrash a well liked player on the team like that. Every player has some sort of trade value. Yao for Lebron for example would be a no brainer for the rockets, but obviously not realistic. So if you're serious about this trade Yao thing, post realistic examples of players you think you can get for Yao and then people can have a discussion on whether they agree on it or not.
Yeah I guess you are stupid. So what team Jefferson is playing for and have he ever made the PO? Oh, he's playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Eastern Conference. Maybe you should take a look at Yao stats before telling me to. I guessed they decided to trade a declining star in Garnett for Jefferson. I guessed Garnett now suck because he's averaging so low in Boston. I guess you're too stupid that Boston have another scorer in Allen, Pierce and Rondo. Jefferson is playing on a crappy ass team where no one give a damn about double teaming him and denying him shots. Yao isn't declining if you're stupid enough to look at the scoring stats. He's getting a load of help with the scoring and rebounding from playing with better teammates. Yeah, he's declining alright shooting a career 0.548 on limited attempt.
It's not what he's rooting for, it's the facts. Regardless of what I think we should do with Yao (which changes regualrly). the FACT is that Les makes a lot of money because of Yao, and as a result has no inclination to trade him. And if you don't think that Les does make all kinds of money off of Yao, then you would be quite wrong.
well you already said he was a cash cow (or didnt argue the fact) and thats another bonus for stars to come over right? get more over seas contracts to make more money to add to there max contract? also you said he shouldnt be the first option for scoring, your absolutely right. so shouldnt your answer to the puzzle instead of trading away someone that gives you the BIGGEST leverage for bringing in top quality players be a last option? instead find out why he gets hurt often? maybe reduce his minutes (actual game play minutes and not no damn practice minutes). and honestly saying that because we play good fast ball? any team can good fast ball if they have the right tools or coach. How about if you build around yao then commit to building around him. if we have to play slower tempo then find the best guys at that and the best coach for it. the problem we have is mixing players and coachs up trying to get the best of both worlds. it doesnt work like that. if averaging 34 minutes a season is too much let him play about 31 3 minutes per game can add up? but that less practice time is stupid, its not physical enough. and you dont throw you all into a practice game, compared to playing against division rivalries.
I don't know. The OP seems like a drama queen to me. Kinda like Steven A Smith. I'm all for trading Yao if the right offer came our way. But Yao for Thabeet straight up? If I was OKC I would do that in a heartbeat. If I was Memphis I would do that in a heartbeat too. It's kinda like the OP is evaluating our situation as if we were the Warriors or the Clippers or even Sun's who's sucked it up and didn't make the playoffs. We made the playoffs. We had a great record and this was w/o T-Mac who was taking up 20+ mill of our salary cap. And we want to blow that up? I'll trade anyone if the right offer came along. Actually I would wait til next season if I were to trade Yao and perhaps swap him with some of the FA's hitting in 2010.
Texxx just convinced me that Morey and Les are stupid. I do not know exactly how Les is making China money but if Yao leaves, I am not going to watch Houston. I think most of the Chinese back in China will do similar things. Call me YOF, whatever. Who knows maybe some Rockets players like to play with him too? How many franchise players work so hard and are humble like Yao? People who like Yao do not know basketball? Like if I care.
Nvm, I just saw his post on Thabeet - LOL. If he wants to trade Yao for Thabeet, there's nothing to discuss really
Yeah so let trade a guy who's making money for Less and his teammates. One of the best Centre in the league when healthy. Not given credits for alternating shots on defense. A hard worker and a leader that motivate some players to do the same. A team player that teammates love to play with.
I don't know about Les, but Chuck, Carl, and Louis got shoe deals with Chinese companies because of Yao. At least he brings his teammates added income.
you mean the CELTICS won a championship when they got garnett. anyways, you make valid points from what i've read, with a bit of your argument to trade yao questionable. you're right about his injury-prone self and the supposed "money" that makes a big difference. i dont see why people are so ignorant to the fact that les alexander making all this china money from yao makes any bit of difference if we haven't won a championship ever since he got here, much less got past the first round of the playoffs other than this past season. i'm not saying we should trade him but we should seriously assess the future of the franchise and see if it really makes the most sense to build around someone else. i will give yao credit where it is due. he's tried hard for this team to be successful but unfortunately in the time he's been here, we havent gotten as far as we should've or liked to. i could tell from the moment he went down against the lakers in game 3 (i think) and showed he really wanted to get back into the game that he was determined to lead us past the lakers no matter what. great person, just hasn't gotten it done for us. and i dont believe it'll get any better...
Man there are so many scenarios. I already said earlier Yao for Amare straight up would be nice or Yao for a pick that would give us Thabeet would be nice as well. That way we have a nice center for many years to take his place that is young and athletic and could fit into Adelaman's system. The way the Rockets were able to run when Yao went down was really nice to see. They reminded me of some of those Kings teams that Adelman did real well with. Yao for a package of some of those Chicago Bulls players would be nice as well if they would bite perhaps. Maybe Thomas, Heinrich, and Noah or something like that. They have a lot of young talent over there and if they were paired with some of our guys that would be nice. Personally I've always liked Gasol's game better than Yao's and I would have traded Yao for Gasol when the Lakers did actually. Hell, I'd even give the Thunder a call and try and package Yao with another player or two and see if we could get Durant over here to build around him. You never know what kind of fool Morey can make out of another GM. The bottom line though is that I have zero confidence that Yao will be able to stay healthy for a full season and be there when we need him, so if he isn't out there it doesn't matter what people think he can do. But personally, I just don't think Yao is all that great. It's quite easy to take him out of a game when you double team him, and how many times have we seen teams stop us from even being able to feed him the ball down low at the end of games because Yao is so slow that he can't even get open? It happens all of the time. How many times do we have to see Adelman's face in amazement when Yao can't even catch an easy pass and then there's a TO. People don't even realize that last season Yao Ming was in the top 5 or top 10 in the league for TO's and he's a freaking center for god sakes!! The bottom line is his best years are behind him and it's downhill from here. Get the value while you can get it. Just like they day. Buy low sell high!
Well you just exposed the fact that you're not even a Rockets fan then. Lol! What are you doing on this site? You're just a Yao Ming fan and nothing more. Shouldn't you be on his website or something then? You're just a band wagoner that will follow Yao wherever he goes.
In China moron. I'm not even a huge Yao fan, but your contention that Yao needs to go is ridiculous. Who exactly are you going to replace him with? Where are you going to make up the production you lose with him gone? Oh, well I guess you don't need a 5 to win in this league. Tell that to the Cavs. I also like the "drafting the guy from China was the worst mistake ever" line. Yeah, because Jay Williams worked out so well for the Bulls. Wait, he had to end his career due to injury, OMG!!!! I guess we just can't win no matter who we draft.... Terrible posts.
