That was my point also. It seems nobody who contributes to this thread questioned Rudy's judgement before the draft.

All I am saying is that he has improved year after year, and if a player we expected to do absolutely nothing can make those improvements then why is it then it can't be expected to have a really good player to become great? I say this, if you look at Yao's field goal % it will tell you a lot. He can shoot the rock . I am not saying that he will shoot 75% in the NBA, but I doubt he will completely fold and forget how to shoot. Yao's ability to knock down the open jumpers can not be underestimated. I just think he will be a good fit for our team. Yes there better players in the league, but I think Yao is a good fit. Yao is a team first player, and he cares about winning. I think he will have his ups and downs, just like every other rookie in the league, but unlike every other rookie he will have to more bashing for his downs and his ups will be minimized.
Re: Kenny Thomas KT is probably going back to 20-25 minutes a game with about the same general results he had in 00-01 and a little higher scoring than he used to. About 10 of those 25 minutes for KT could come from more of a small forward type role, thus freeing up 20 minutes from Kenny's 35 for MT. MT might be able to sneak another 5-10 from the 5 position and smaller two 4's and a 3 lineup. Eddie's going to need 25 minutes at least. It's looking like a good problem down there. Rudy likes to sub and see who is hot on a nightly basis, but there is only so many minutes to go around. It is good safety for injuries and suspensions and does create constructive competition.
I guess you won't take Larry Bird's word on this then. How did Jordan win the MVP in 88 and finish second in 87? Luck?
I was away for a while. The slamming was fun, as most of the slammers missed the point. I would not trade Yao Ming.

I think it's dishonest to say that a player taken in the first round of any draft is expected to do absolutely nothing. I'd also say it's easier to go from being a poor/average player to good than it is to go from average/good to great.
