Based from how yao played on the game against mav. i don't see any possibility of him being the core of the team. He still lacks the aggresiveness and the attitude to dominate, especially at crunch time. Core player is the one who can turn the situation of the game when every one else in team fails to do so, Centers like Shaq, Duncan, Hakeem, or even Jabar all have the ability to score when trailed behind, they have the charisma to boost the teammates morale. Yao is too soft, lacks the attitude to demand for the ball and score at crunch. He lacks the physicality of shaq and flexibility of Hakeem or Jabar. Minus the height, i think he is just another wan zhi-zhi.

Maybe 21 points and 14 boards will shut up the people who actually think that Amare and Zarko for Yao and Moochie is actually a good trade. People talk about team play, I believe coming into this game Amare STILL hadn't had an assist this season. Yeah, that'll help the offense!

ONE game told you that? His all-around numbers tell me he is a billion times the player Wang Zhi-Zhi is, why don't you bother to actually look up stats back up your comments? Considering he is about 23 years old and putting up over 15 ppg I think Yao is on his way to being a dominant center. Funny how people like this come out of the woodwork after ONE bad game. 21 points and 14 boards, lets see if someone responds to that. Doesn't look soft to me!

Did you ever watch the game? Are you blind? You ask Yao to score at crunch time. Then you need to pass the god damn ball to him. Yao did NOT get ONE pass at the 4th quarter at Mav's game while he is wide open. Too soft? How can you get 5 or 6 offense boards if you are too soft.

this is a HORRIBLE trade. Amare averages 0.1 assists a game! I COULD AVERAGE 0.1 ASSISTS PER GAME! All we need is worse ball movement.

I don't know what game people is watching. Yao is playing well given the passes he is getting. He is really playing good defense. I saw him making change a lot of shots to the other team.
The real problem is that Francis is not a point guard and he will never be. We need to move him to the 2 and trade Mobley for some decent guard that can make quick and inide passes to Yao. Francis just dribble too much! We don't even need a super start point guard. All we need is some decent passes.
I just been looking at the last couple of games, and Francis can not even pass the ball in the fast break. We had several 2 on 1 opportunities, and in all cases we could not score.
Francis is good in the fast break, when somebody else passes the ball to him.
Please bring a real point guard!!

That's total BS. Yao's hands are so large that they are like suction that can suck the ball towards him. Cato is the player who cannot hold the ball with one hand.

Yao is nothing like Wang Zhi Zhi. Wang Zhi Zhi plus 6 inches is still a scrub. Bateer plus six inches might be a monster though...

Francis is nothing at all considering he could not lead the team to playoffs for a few years in a row. He is just another over-dribble-can't-dish-the-ball point guard.

at least Cato slams it with authority, If Yao's hands are like "suction" then why does he frequently lose the ball and gets stripped every time? he may have long skinny hands, but they are not thick enough, if Yao's hands were more prominent he'd have alot more confidence throwin it down instead of settle for baby hooks:eek:

I really wouldn't trade Yao with his rookie scale and potential unless we get to unload something back. I'd trade Yao to Sacto but they'd have to give us webber, christy and Peja while taking back mooch and Mo T along with Yao. Only way I'd do that trade.

Webber has the athletism & skill to be great, but he doesn't have the determindation. Can we say Derrick Colmen? That's why he never wins anywhere. Don't tell me about the Sac town, they a 50+ team without he.

Basketball skills aside.....no way do the rocket's ever trade Yao. His marketability here and overseas might just be the best that has ever happened to the Rockets. If only 1% of one billion chinese people buy his jersey......that's enough to guarantee he will be around for good.
