Most no.1 pick either he will be the best in the team or in some case second to the best. But trading Yao was just a plain damn suggestions, alright!
It's amazing seeing "hardcore" fans react to a loss. Let's just do trades.....yea... and hire a new coach. This team just sucks! I'll play along....
I'ts because you are willing to trade a possibe Hakeem for J.Oneal. J.Oneal is an overpowering PF in the East. In the West, he would be no better than fourth or fifth(if that). Yao would be the best center in the East. Unfortunately he is only the second best center in the West. If you think a center(Duncan does not consider himself a center...tho he is) other than Shaq can demand the respect and double/triple teams that Yao does......let me know who. It has been a while since stopping a Rocket center was the focal point of beating us. Brings a tear to my eye. We lost to a better team tonight. There is absolutely no shame in losing to Dallas at home. Many teams will feel their wrath at their house this year. The time will come for us eventually(none here expected a championship trophy this year). They have more firepower than us this year. Phoenix of the early 90's had more firepower and chemestry than Dallas does now. See what happenned to them. Our championship teams were together for many years before we rose up and won. PATIENCE..................................
I meant championship team(with Thorpe and Olajuwan). The second added Drexler, who adapted after a half of a season. Sorry.
Vin Baker for Yao, I am in. Bush will be calling Vin as the role model for all Texans to slimdown. Move over Big Mac's, here comes Richie Simmons post game workouts.
You better know a bit about NBA and Rox before proposing a trade proposal. 1. Without a good center, no team can win a championship, period! I don't think Phoenix can even win a championship by the way. 2. There are only a couple of dominant PFs in the league, a Duncan/Garnett, even Webber who is 20+/10+/3+ can not dominate. Remember this, NOBODY WILL TRADE A DUNCAN TO THE ROX. Moreover, teams can match up reasonably well against a PF-dominated team than a center-dominated team. 3. Rox has the chance to have an all-star PF, EG, or instead of EG, pick Zach Randolph in the draft, but Rudy screwed it up. 4. We do need a PF to match up with the WF power teams, but a defensive-oriented PF should be fine. 5. If Steve can't handle the PG position in critical situation, we need to bring in a veteran PG for backup. I would say our guards play is the biggest problem no matter if we have an all-star PF or not. It is not like that with an all-star PF, steve can run the fastbreak better. Our PF position is tricky, we do have players like MoT, EG who can play a bit, and it is always possible to get a veteran defensive minded PF. But we definitely need a veteran backup PG. SF has shown that he could not play against the zone since his college days in Maryland. His last game as a maryland player ended against a team that plays zone. I watched that game from the beginning to the end. SF jsut can't play against the zone.
How keeping Yao, but trading all of the Yao-only fans for all of the Vin Baker-only fans (does Baker's mom have access to a computer??)??
OK... this is RI-****-ULOUS You are the one that is funny, the Rockets lose one game, and you're thinking trade Yao. Geez man... When Yao catches the ball deep in the paint, he's as automatic as anyone in the league not named Shaq. We just need to be patient until he'd able to get position and catch it more often.
Why only trade Yao. Hell I'd like trade the whole team. Oh, maybe trade the two cities, move H-town to Dallas? What do you think?
And I guess we can call Luc Longley a good center, period! Or perhaps it was Bill Wennington who was the good center? I'm suprised that you don't think Phoenix can even win a championship... I mean they're so much greater than the Rockets.. what'd they come 8th last season? Wasn't it a buzzer beater from Starbury that salvaged a win against the Rockets to secure that massive one extra win (and save your team getting swept in the season series by the Rocks). And didn't we struggle badly under Mr "Mean" after Rudy's illness - I don't exactly recall the record under him, but I think we lost 2 out of every three games... a 'fit' Rudy probably means we make the playoffs... Oh yeah, Phoenix is streets better than Houston! I'd much rather be in the Rox camp right now than the Suns...
Luc Longley in today's NBA would be a decent center. Pretty much for the past 20 years, the second Bulls team is the only team that does not have a pretty good center. In their first run, Cartright is a pretty good center. But then, the second Bull run has a lot to do with referees and Jordan. In today's NBA, can you give me a Jordan? You need a center to win a championship. It is always easier to get a good PF instead of a good center. Malone-Stockton never won one, Payton-Kemp didn't win. Any GM who trade a 16-8 center for a 20-10 PF would be pretty dumb. Remember it is much easier to match up against a 20-10 PF instead of matching up with a 16-8 center.
It was all just a dream. You can now wake up to the reality that everday there is a hell of a lot more new "trade (insert non-Yao player)" thread.
