    How about:

Shandon, KT, Cato & the drew obligation

    for

    Miller, Fizer & Ron Artest

    Our roster would be
    Francis/Norris
    Cutinto/Artest
    Griffin/Langhi/Morris
    Taylor/Fizer/Bullard
Miller/Collier (Hakeem - if he returns)

Maybe the Bulls are looking to send DELL Curry over here in that trade - check with the "source"!

    Clutch,
I concur. From my other post in this thread, the Curry part didn't make sense. If Shandon wants more than Cat, how can the Rocks justify the dollars to the other players? Sign-and-trade.

From TRG's comments, would not be surprisied if some form of this is already a done deal.

Again, with what has happened this last week, nothing would surprise me.

Thanks, for the response. I was hoping you had corroberation or denial. Well, here iss to hoping Cato is gone on the 18th.

You actually think Vince Carter is going to stay in Toronto, especially if Antonio Davis leaves!? I would be surprised if he DIDN'T leave!

Or the team he will go to will be RAPED in a sign and trade. The Raptors can match any bid for him.

To put it in English, he's handcuffed.

    DR. N,
Thats not happening. If he knew I was placing any of this on the net, I may never be privy to any future info. Prying may yeild suspicion.

One thing I can assure is that Rocks personnel monitor this site for leaked info. and fan 'in-the-know' opinion.

I also know that some info. is leaked on purpose to derive fan opinion. God, I feel used!

No he isn't handcuffed. Just like Grant Hill or Tracy McGrady could have signed with Orlando without a sign-and-trade. There will be good teams under the cap he cango to. And he can give Toronto the choice, a reasonable trade demand or I walk. Tell me, did Orlando get raped in the Grant Hill deal? Nope. He isn't handcuffed, they'll be plenty of teams that can offer him top dollar, including the Rockets, Clippers, Chicago, and Phoenix. So to put in English, you're wrong. He isn't stuck in Toronto.

    Hey Clutch,

I have been reading a lot about the team chemistry and how the main players want Walt back next season. If they want Shandon back too, who is going to get the playing time? With Griffin a lock at the 3 spot, Shandon and Walt are the only players that are expendable (and have trade value). With the reports guaranteeing Langhi being resigned, and the addition of Morris, somebody will have to go.

........I do think it would be nice to have Shandon back (at the right price), to be a backup to Cuttino at the 2 spot.

Langhi is already under contract [IMG]

And please no Shandon. His deffense is overrated and he would just take up playing time that someone with more tallent could use. IMO.

By the way, Vince Carter will be to next year's free agency what Chris Webber is to THIS YEAR'S FAs. And if teams don't have cap room they will MAKE cap room! Another team under the cap will be Detroit, maybe Atlanta, and maybe Sacramento if they're not able to re-sign Webber.

By your "source", you mean yourself. Clarify that next time.

Rocks, I'm afraid you've got hold of the wrong end of the stick, my friend. VC is of the first class year to be subject to the new CBA rules, wherby he's only a limited free agent in his 4th year...THe Raps can match any offer. Two years from now he may be in the same situation as Grant Hill and Tracy McGrady, but not next year.

Oh, he's a RESTRICTED free agent. That's different. Geez why didn't you just say that! [IMG] One question though, I heard the Rockets have a club option on Francis, does he has the same restrictions on him!? I haven't heard of these CBA rules.

JAG are you sure on this? Isn't loosing Vince to free agency next year what Toronto has been worried about the last year or so? I'm no capoligist.

Is Langhi under contract? From what I remember of Clutch's report on the 2 rookies signing their deals last season, Langhi signed on for one year with a second year at the TEAMS option (please correct me if this is wrong) - which would mean that we cannot know Langhi's status until the 18th. Is it possible that he is not coming back next season due to our glut of SF's?

I would imagine they'd bring back Langhi over Bullard - but who knows?
Shandon's defense is pretty darn good - he struggles to match up against players 3-4" bigger than him, but if we signed him again he would play most of his minutes as the backup SG and not at SF. Considering we have NOBODY to play SG behind Mobley right now I desparately hope we re-sign Shandon!

They can still have Vince for one more year because he is a qualifying offer player. He will be on the Raps for 5 years, or not have a 5th season in 02-03. No way will they let another team outbid them. By then, Keon Clark will be fully developed (he is a qualifying offer player the same time as Vince, same draft class), and Vince will WANT to stay. If the Raptors can retain atleast Alvin Williams, they will still be a force in the Eastern Conference.

The main reason they have been getting press about Vince's contract is because they can sign a contract extension this offseason. Very, very doubtful.

JAG is right. Under the new CBA, rookies (starting with the 1998 rookie class) are under contract for three years with a team option for a fourth. After that, those players are RESTRICTED free agents for their fifth years, meaning that their teams have a right of first refusal. In Vince's case, Toronto can match ANY offer for him (and they will). So it IS safe to say that Toronto will re-sign Vince Carter. However, it is not so safe to say that Carter will not be immediately traded thereafter.

I'm not sure Clark will be THAT good, he'll be good though. One reason I can see Carter leaving is endorsement deals. It's easier to get companies to endorse you if you're on a team in the US. This rule still confuses me because everybody talked like Vince Carter was clean and clear to walk next year. Then again these CBA rules might have THEM confused as well.
