Again, I just don't understand this mindset that teams are lining up to give us their good players for a bunch of crap. You can justify it however you want, but GS would NEVER do this deal. NEVER.
Bro - the Warriors got BDavis for Speedy Claxton and a washed up Dale Davis. Detroit got Rasheed from ATL for Bob Sura, Zeiko Rebracca, and to other crap plus a future first. Never say never.
Clutchfans.net's criteria for making a trade 1. Include Juwan Howard because he's the bane of everyone's existence here. CHECK 2. Include another player that we do not want, salary be damned. CHECK 3. Include a player we would like to keep, but include in a deal because of his salary and because he's injured enough to be traded, but not injured enough to where the other team wouldn't mind taking it up the ass CHECK 4. Throw in the obligatory draft pick for good measure. Make in an unprotected one at that (it worked for the Knicks!) CHECK AND THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE 5. Try to compound numbers 1 and 4 together and try to make sense out of it by wanting more productive and/or cheaper players in return. CHECK Oh yea, even though I went to UT, that little remark about A&M was pretty juvenile when the man only wanted to point out the ridiculousness of this trade proposal. The Warriors wouldn't even do Troy Murphy for Juwan Howard straight up. But I guess that's where the 1st rounder comes in eh, BRO?
my clientele includes Lil Flip and some other H-Town notables. this AGGIE makes more than you can dream, buddy. maybe you should realize that not everyone is as puckin r****ded as you. lay off the school ragging, and hopefully your r****ded thread won't get derailed. in case you haven't read enough threads in the past couple years, all it takes is a couple stupida$$ comments like "Since you went to A&M Ill explain this to you S-L-O-W-L-Y" & "... ineptitude (I know that word may confuse you coming from A&M but if you sound it out slowly you should be able to figure out)" and then your thread is *ucked. just fyi. you're ABSOLUTELY right about BDavis being GS's stud - especially the part about him playing just 54 games for them last year. [ESPN]. in case you haven't checked, GSW isn't too smart about drafting players - they picked Patrick O'Bryant this year, when everyone agreed that he was overrated. they're not that exceptional at rating talent. in regards to Baron Davis, there was a firesale going on NO, their season was over prematurely. that trade wasn't a surprise to ANYONE, b/c baron wanted out, and there were problems between him and the team/coach i believe. the surprise was baron's blast-from-the-past, uplifting play for a few games that year that gave everyone false hope for this past, injury-ridden year. Rasheed Wallace? are you kidding me? maybe you were out of the country then, steve, but Rasheed Wallace wanted to get onto a playoff team or something. everyone was pretty sure that his final destination was Detroit - Atlanta was just a stopover. it was a joke when he actually got a chance to play a game in a Hawks uniform, and scored like 20 points for a crappy team, and they ended up losing. troy murphy and pietrus are not holding GSW hostage like Sheed and Baron did to portland and NO, respectively. maybe you should brush up on your history before you make yourself look foolish again.
You are appearantly not that bright either, again TM is an overpaid (although younger not cheaper) jumping shooting power forward that plays no defense and has had injury problems. He is better than JHo - no question but it isn't like I am proposing a Jho for KG trade. Have you even seen TM play other the than the few times per year we play them? Also, if they think so highly of him why did the draft Diogu and Taft? If you read my entire first post there were 2 options for the trade one for players the onther involving the TE in two separate deals, and I listed the second as the better option for GS. MP is a great athlete that has a questionable BB IQ, it's not like I am asking for JRich. Both of these guys are good role players period. TM is also slightly overpaid for what he brings to the table. I think both of these guys could improve our team and I don't think GS is going to miss either one of them. BTW, for almost every trade you name me where both teams got equal value I can name one that one team took less - usually for cap flexibility and draft picks.
How in the hell or why in the Hell do you justify CD trading Gay and Swift for Battier? Stranger things have happened.
Razz me if you want, but there is another option. Trade Luther Head for Chris Taft and a future second rounder. Taft is big enough to play C and quick enough to guard most PFs. He should be attainable because he is lost behind Troy Murphy and Ike Diogu. JVG would never start him, but he would have time to learn the system as a 10th rotational player. However, they don't need Juwon Howard so that is not a realistic trade option in this scenario.
Derek fisher was traded for Devin Brown, Andre Owens, and Keith McLeod. I think this could potentially be good for us (if CD were to actually call GS) because they can give up pietrius because they have acquired role players that are cheaper and actually not that bad. TM is also expendable because they have Ike Diogu who will blossom into a pretty good pf. But how much do you want to bet that CD wont even call GS, or that if he does we end up with Mike Dunleavy (*shudder*)?
maybe this should be locked. It's a terrible trade offer, but everyone is just bashing the thread originator and he's bashing back. Yes, GS would probably prefer to get rid of Murphy's bloated salary. However, they can probably get more value for him than a draft pick (because really, we're giving them cap flexibility later and a pick...and that's it). But if that was it...then MAYBe--at least you can see some possible justification But you're also throwing in Pietrius. A young player that is coveted by many teams. Yes, he's stuck behind Richardson--however, that doesn't make them want to trade him for less than his value. Other teams will surely offer something decent for a player that has as much potential as he does (big for a 2, quick, not a terrible shot, solid defense, quick hands, decent handles). Aside from offering nothing decent...we're offering nothing really. Because the pick and cap flexibility was what was getting us Murphy...trade broken down equates to giving nothing else for Pietrius.
I've proposed a trade similar to this one before with GS, however, the Rox would have to include Rafer and not Bowen and take on Foyle's contract as well. Foyle is overpaid for the next 3 years but he's a big body and blocks shots. The key obviously is Murphy and Pietreus(sp) Lineup Yao/Foyle/Mutumbo Murphy/Battier/Novak Tmac/Novak Pietreus/Stevenson(3.5 of MLE) Banks(1.7TE)Lucas
See you have a little higher opinion of these two then I do. I like TM and would love to see him on the Rocks, but he is an overpaid, injury prone, jump shooting, no defense PF. Again I like him for the Rocks because I feel he fits what we have right now. If you look at the bottom of my original post you'll see I also mentioned a second option of 2 trades: JHo and RyBo for TM and a TE and the 07 first round for MP. I feel like JHo and the TE are equal value for TM based on GS's cap situation and the fact they have Diogu who fits them a tad better - more of an inside presence. Jh's contract is two years shorter and the TE clears even more cap space. I feel liek cap space has value in a trade situation. The NBA has had lots of lopsided trades because of cap reasons. That would leave a first round pick for MP. Even your description of him is not what I would call glowing. He is a great athlete and a good defender with average offensive ability. I know he has potential but that doesn't mean as much to me. Swift had potential, Cato showed tremendous potential in his first preseason with us and we know how that worked out. I am not a fan of overpaying for potential. I appreciate the honest eval of my post. I understand that everyone isn't going to like every trade, but as other posters have siad and I agree with -trades aren't always about talent. Maybe GS isn't worried about their cap situation in which case I doubt they would even consider this proposal but if they were concerned I don't think it is as bad as other trades that have gone down - the Rasheed Wallace trade for example. I know Wallace never wanted to play in ATL, but they GAVE him away for nothing. Other coaches and GMs were scratching their heads on that one.
I, personally would do this as well, but we would have to find a PG somehow. I wouldn't mind Banks as a backup.
