Cousins has a standing reach of 9'5". Compare that to Yao who has a reach of 9'8". Cousins has legit center size.

Yao is 7-6 with a very solid base and arm strength. Cousins would be okay stretching into the storm drain to reach a lost nickel, but length isn't strength when it comes to playing center. Cousins can jump higher than Yao, but Yao always has an 8-inch head start.

It's a pity that Yao is pretty much done (I hope the Great Wall shocks us all with a comeback), but we should be looking for a center that can be part of our team rather than one who can't control emotional stress over the short or long term.

What are you talking about? Yao has only a 3 inch head start. You don't protect the rim with your head, you don't with your arms. Standing flat footed, Yao's reach is only 3 inches taller than Cousins. Cousins is also a lot quicker than Yao and can jump higher. Cousins has legit Center size.

Uhmmm, Cousins is strong as hell, he can hold his ground against pretty much any center in the league... Which is what makes him so unique, his strong and yet extremely skilled.

Hahaha dude your hatred for the guy just shows, did he bang your mom or something?..

And if you want to get technical about this Jordan Hill is 6'10.25 while Cousins is 6'10.75, so no Jordan isn't taller...

Also can we please stop with the Eddy Curry comparison's.. Curry's skill level and drive was never even in the same stratosphere as Cousin's skill level and drive..

I mean seriously Cousins can dribble drive, has a high basketball IQ, can pass from the high-post, has shooting range all the way from three, has great foot work and is very nimble and isn't afraid to take the game winning shot....curry has none of those things, and never did...

But at the end the day, despite everything that I said...

Sac would rather fire their coach and trade Evans before trading a player with that much potential.

If Cousins becomes an All-star it will embarrass the franchise forever. They won't risk that.

i agree, Sactown wont trade Cousins for this, I'd probably bet they trade Greene by the trade dead line. I wonder if Evans and Cousins will have an altercation. On the plus side, it is nice to see that Cousins has passion about the game, just it is too bad that he expects people respect him when he is a rookie.

There's no way you do that deal if you're Houston. That's giving up waaaaaaayyyyyyy too much.

Yeah, like Memphis wouldn't risk trading Pau Gasol to the Lakers (for Kwame Brown, Pau's wussy lil bro & an idiot who pulls guns in the locker room) & risk the embarrasment of the Lakers going to 3 finals in a row,

The Rockets wouldn't risk trading Rudy Gay to Memphis for Battier, and Risk Gay becoming a 19ppg scorer & one of the better scoring wings in the NBA.

    Dude it happens.

This means nothing. Jordan Hill is rated higher than Dejuan Blair and Glen Davis. Don't think so...

If you can get Cousins you do it!
It's the kind of move they NEED to make!

Remember other NBA players are not as "turned off" by Cousins outburst as some of you. He's a big, young & skilled center who if he plays well may be able to attract some big name free agents to the Rockets. Contrary to popular belief, these star players aren't looking for teammates they would want to raise their kids; they want teammates with skill, fire and the will to win. You're not going to attract other star players with all these no stat all-star folk heroes that people on this board seem to worship.

The fact missing in this incident is that Evans is a COMPLETE BALL HOG! HELL BROOKS PASSES LIKE JOHN STOCKTON COMPARED TO THIS GUY! The Kings have given him free reign over their team. You can't blame the kid for being frustrated. His attitude is gamble, but so were Yao & Tracy getting healthy & WE KNOW HOW MANY TIMES THE ROCKETS HAS FED US THAT LINE!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, and the Grizzlies have been the prime example of a stupid organization that no other team will risk mimicking. GM's around the NBA do not want to be that next laughing stock.

look at what the owner said:

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-heisleygasol060308

Rudy gay had never stepped one foot on an NBA court while Cousins has played half a season. Stupid comparison. The Rockets traded a pick not a proven player for Battier. Was it risky? yes it was and Gay could have been a bust too.

Dude lay off the wake and bake.

Hey GENIUS, Somebody had a clue that Rudy Gay could play!
UHH, Jerry "freakin" West thought he could play! That's your first BIG clue that you might want to take a second look at a guy.
You don't trade a young player with that much upside for a known role player period. Hell NONE of the lottery picks have played a game, but GM's turn down trades all the time to hold to lottery picks FOR A REASON!

WE GOT BURNED, GET OVER IT! IT'S THE REASONS THEY'VE BEEN SELLING YOU BATTIER SINCE HE GOT HERE. HELL IF ANYTHING BATTIER'S A BUST! He was a college player of the year (2001) & WENT HIGHER IN HIS DRAFT CLASS THAN GAY WENT IN HIS AND NOW HE'S A NO STAT ALL-STAR?

PULEEZE! WIPE THE RED ROCKET KOOL-AID OFF YOUR MOUTH BRO! :)

Well worth the aggravation...He's kind of a throwback player...In 2 years, his intensity will get him comparisons to Barkley in regards to leadership and toughness....I'd throw the kitchen sink at them for D-Cuz
