What makes you think that it would be easier for the Jets to move up just one or two spots?

If the Saints trade down to pick 4, then the Saints will most likely be out of the running for Leinart or VY. They absolutely need a QB.

If the Titans move down to pick 4, then they will most likely not be able to get Bush, Leinart, or VY. Sitting at 3, they are in a nice spot.

Therefore, the only viable option for the Jets is to move to the 1st pick since we would be more prone to trading down. The Saints and Titans have pinpointed what they need, and therefore, trading down with the Jets isnt as much of an option for them. The Jets basically have to trade with us if they want Leinart or Young.

Or Bush. Given Pennington's contract has been re-negotiated (Chad still in the picture), Bush could well be their target, with an aging but still productive Curtis Martin and a team really lacking explosiveness Bush-NYJ could be an ideal match.

I really think Bush, ML and VY will be the 1st 3 picks, probably but not certainly, in that order. I think the Cutler build up as the #1 QB is a smoke screen by NO, Tenn or NYJ to try to confuse one another. A lot of reports were that Cutler was less than overwhelming at the Senior Bowl (particularly the game) and missed a fair share of throws at the combine. For someone to take Cutler over ML or VY they are way weighting the extra arm strength over a lot of other factors (winning, proven leadership and decision making, and in VY's case, great athleticism to boot)--I don't see it unless VY or ML bomb their pro days.

I'd want the #4 (06), Jets 2nd (06), Jets 1st (07) + Jets 5th (07) to swap (very similar to the Eli-SD deal), and I think it makes a lot of sense for both Houston and NYJ. If the Jets sit on #4 they are probably left with DBrick or Mario Williams as viable picks, maybe close to sure things but no splash factor at all.

    Not to me it doesn't.

#1 I don't think he will be the best pro player among the top 5 picks and has a tremendous risk to benefit (particularly considering the amount of money it will take to sign him).

#2 the Texans have a great young return man and a good all around running back at a fraction of what Bush will cost.

#3 I am not sure Vernon Davis (probably had at 6-8) doesn't open up the offense every bit as much.

So if Reggie is available trading down (2-3-4), great, take him. At least then his contract isn't as ridiculous and you pick up other assets (making his downward risks much more palatable. But I'd don't like taking him #1 and paying him #1 monies with all the other needs the Texans have at all. My opinion, anyway.

Pennington's restructured contract opened up more options for the Jets, but I still think they need a QB. I just don't think you can rely on Pennington to be your guy and when there are QBs like Leinart, VY, Cutler available, you just might have to take one of them.

I think there is something fishy about all this Cutler-hype as of late. While his stock has risen more than anyone else's so far, most of it was because of Chow during Senior Bowl practices. He was awful in the actual game IMO.

If the Jets stay put, look for them to take Cutler (assuming Bush, Leinart, VY are gone).
