It's JVG's job to win games and you don't mess with a rotation of a 25-16 team just to give a player with potential a chance. If the opportunity presents itself, it's VSpan's job to take advantage of it.

 

Do you honestly believe that people think VSpan's as good as Kidd, Nash or Magic Johnson? C'mon dude, he could not even get ONE single minute in garbage time even if Rockets has a 20+ point lead in the 4th quarter. People just want to see him play for 5-10 garbage minutes to see how good/bad he could be. I just couldn't believe people still defending JVG who insists on playing O-fer even if he turns the ball over and over in crucial times, bricks 3s consistently, and makes ill-advised tear drops again and again...and now he even commits stupid fouls on 3 pointers. Rafer has cost us a few GAMES these season and it should be about time to see some changes in rotation.

JVG is here to win. He'll use whatever players he's got. He runs a tight ship, and expects everyone to play at a contender level, not doing their own thing. If you don't excell, you aren't put on court. JVG wants the players to be good, and sees them in practice everyday. He wants us to win. He's not going to let a personal vendetta get in the way of that. He's a hard nosed coach, and as such, it's either his way or the highway. But, this isn't basketball by committee.

Just because someone here says "I think JVG doesn't like VSpan, and won't give him a chance," doesn't make it true, nor make any sense for the next person to say how unfair it is that JVG does this. That is circular reasoning, with no truth.

I remember people getting upset that JVG wasn't playing Yao to his strengths, but requiring him to get strong and learn toughness. He got a lot of flack for wanting Yao to be the player he knew he could be, and now that Yao is stepping up, and has developed strengths where he once had weaknesses, I don't hear people giving JVG the praise for those changes, except for Yao himself.

Now that's happening with VSpan, JL3, Snyder, Hayes and Novak. He's pushing those guys to be the best they can be. He demands excellence, won't put up with knucklehead behavior, and pushes them to do what it takes to belong on the floor of a championship contender.

Let him do his job. When Rudy was being all soft and teddy bear, many clamored for his head, saying that we needed a tough, no nonsense defensive coach who knew his Xs and Os. We got our wish. So, let's see how this plays out.

Totally agreed. Every rookie should have a fair chance for developing his potential. You never know how and whether they would improve without having enough on-court experience.

Many people have said VP has PG potential and they might not be totally blind. It has become too common that RA, when playing more than 35 minutes and is becoming tired, his mental breaks down and starts jacking up bricks desperately. So why not give about 10-15 minutes to VP to test whether he's having PG potential? It's natural that VP would feel frustrated seeing RA throwing up bricks while he is being benched for so many games.

 

Clutch, you should exclude Yao from the list too

 

I don't know how CD looks stupid? All he did was bring the kid over and talk him up. What does Spanoulis' benching have to do with CD?

 

On the actual subject of Trade Vspan

I'm having a hard time thinking of who would want him? All we'd get back is another scrub at the end of the bench who'd never play in return. Someone worse than Gerald Fitch in last year's Derek Anderson trade.
