Nets would be taking a step back trading for pj. I like the nets as is. Pj makes life harder on James because he is way too one dimensional
The Rockets are weighing whether to shop Victor Oladipo, the former All-Star guard who arrived from Indiana in the four-team Harden blockbuster. The bruising forward P.J. Tucker is eagerly awaiting his own exit in the coming days and a new start with a contender. — Stein https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/03/sports/basketball/james-harden-nets-rockets.html
I don't think Oladipo is traded for less than a FRP and a young player. If he's not able to fetch that, like many around here think he will be unable to do so, I believe the Rockets hold on to him for the rest of the year and re-evaluate next offseason. Eric Gordon would be traded instead of him (if the value isn't there) and would likely fetch an ok younger player like Nesmith (into an exception) or maybe a team like Miami would send an expiring and a KZ Okapala. Getting his deal off the books will be easier than ever this trade deadline because the market is so barren. Whatever happens, one of those guys has to go. KPJ needs at least 20MPG for the rest of the year. PJ, we just need one team to offer an ok player in return or even a heavily (Top 22) protected FRP that converts to SRPs.
https://tradenba.com/trades/42ZyEkWQc I just think that deal makes far too much sense for all involved. I could see Philly not wanting to give up Thybulle for Tucker but, honestly, I'd be ok with trading him into their TPE in exchange for the NYK second that Philly has. So, basically, Tucker and Oladipo for Knox plus NYK FRP, Det SRP (via NYK) and NYK SRP (via Philly).
Knicks have about 4 guys that would be enticing as the main piece in an Oladipo trade. Randle is obviously out for now because he's an all star. These guys would be the sole asset or close to in return. 1. Immanuel Quickley - not a chance 2. Mitchell - highly unlikely. 3. RJ Barrett - highly unlikely 4. Obi Toppin - maybe? Knicks also about 2 guys that would maybe make for interesting combos. so these two guys and a FRP. 1. Frank Ntilkina - french flier 2. Kevin Knox - flier
I am also not a huge fan of Knox. However, Knox, a mid first, and a high second is not a bad haul. Especially if you are also scoring Thybulle in a side deal. Also, keep in mind, Knox is only 21 and 2 years removed from being a 19 year old rookie who averaged 13 and 5 (as predominantly a 4 rather than 3) and he is a career 34% 3pt shooter. An ancillary draw of this deal is that it saves TF $20M+....
I see what you're saying now. The Trade NBA link just didn't have picks. Maybe by sending Rivers to the 76ers, this could entice the 76ers. It's still so hard to see them trading Thybulle right now and not getting Oladipo. I could see Morey throwing caution to the wind if he's allowed to bust the budget though. https://tradenba.com/trades/lrDBRX2aS
This is a bit of a digression, but I don't think LAL is nearly as much of a shoe-in for a title as they were last year. So if that's your criteria, might as well give him just as good of a shot on any one of five teams, and potentially get something better in return.
Yeah, that's my bad. I didnt include the picks. Rockets get Detroit's Second rounder (via NYK) and the Knicks' first. NYK get Philly's first (to offset the first they send to Hou). I like the idea of Rivers to Philly to loosen their grip on Thybulle. Morey having history there helps as does the fact that his dad is the coach. So, final deal with that addition: https://tradenba.com/trades/JdbUaWIsy (had to add Korkmaz for matching purposes)
Probably my own self conscious desire not to propose deals that are lopsided in the Rockets favor. I added a pick to NYK to offset the loss of their own FRP. Essentially New York gives up Knox, the second they have from Detroit and moves down in the first from their own pick to Philly's. By all means if everyone is comfy with the Rockets getting that pick too I am game.
I honestly think Philly would hold the pick especially with giving up Thybulle. Thybulle alone is probably too much for PJ.
I think you two are onto something. Oladipo for a smaller contract (the Knicks have cap space to absorb the rest of the $$$) and a mid-first rounder (Dallas or NYK) and 2nd rounder should do it.
Rose and Gordon are very close. I think Gordon could be had for less and may help facilitate a three way easier. https://tradenba.com/trades/pA68HMJAv
Yeah, the time to get Thybulle has possibly passed. No worries, I think there are several prospect who might be available with a high second that can provide similar defensive potential (Scottie Lewis from Florida and Bennedict Mathurin from Arizona). Obviously Thybulle is tested and less of a risk and who Id rather have but there are options...
Morey seems as enamored with him as I am. I don’t see him changing hands unless he’s an add on for a Beal or LaVine type.
