There are numerous rumors about DH12 and TRob these days. In my point of view, trading TRob is not to save cap for DH12, but for LMA/Love. Why and how? Let me explain below:

    A. WAIVE ROYCE WHITE TO GET DH12

    (1) Guaranteed contracts:
    O. Asik $8,374,646
    C. Parson $926,500 (will be picked up on 1/7)
    J. Harden $13,668,750
    J. Lin $8,374,646
    D. Motiejunas $1,422,720
    T. Jones $1,551,840
    T. Robinson $3,526,440
    R. White $1,719,480

    (2) Waived player with guaranteed contract:
    T. Honeycutt $1,000,000

    (3) Non-guaranteed contracts (will be guaranteed after signed D12/CP3):
    J. Anderson $916,099 (will be fully-guaranteed before 31/10, and doesn't count towards salary cap before signing DH12/CP3)
    P. Beverley $788,872 (will be fully-guaranteed on 1/2014, and doesn't count towards salary cap before signing DH12/CP3)
    G. Smith $884,293 (same as Beverley)
    T. Ohlbrecht $788,872 (same as Beverley)

    (4) Non-guarantee contract (will be released on 30/6):
    C. Delfino $3,000,000 (will be fully-guaranteed before 30/6, and it is very likely to be released)
    A. Brooks $2,508,000 (same as C. Delfino)
    F. Garcia $6,400,000 (same as C. Delfino)

Total guaranteed salary on 1/7 under my prediction:
    = (1) + (2) = $39,665,022

As we know we have to save salary cap for DH12/CP3, GM will declare NOT to execute the third-year contract on R. White. Moreoever, he may even waive White and utilize the stretch provision. White's salary ($1,719,480) will be spread into 3 years to $573,160.
So after waived R. White and utilize stretch provision, team salary will be $38,518,702. And assumed that 2013/2014 salary cap will be grown up to 59mil+ (let's say $59,032,000), we don't need to trade anyone in order to sign DH12 (i.e. $20,513,178)!!!
After signed DH12, we still have one room exception (around 2.6mil) and can be used on F. Garica. So roster of our team will be:

    Starter
    D. Howard $20,513,178
    O. Asik $8,374,646
    C. Parson $926,500
    J. Harden $13,668,750
    J. Lin $8,374,646

    Role Player
    D. Motiejunas $1,422,720
    T. Robinson $3,526,440
    T. Jones $1,551,840
    F. Garcia $2,600,000
    P. Beverley $788,872

    Role Player
    T. Ohlbrecht $788,872
    G. Smith $884,293
    J. Anderson $916,099
    34th pick rookie (SF/PG)

    B. TRADE THOMAS ROBINSON FOR LMA/LOVE

We hear the news that TRob is being put on the shopping list lately. I think it is not a just rumor. But why do we need to shop TRob even we have room for DH12? The answer is simple, we are getting LMA/Love to work with DH12.
Many analysis states that DH12 may not co-exist with Asik. When DH12 come to rockets on July, trading Asik for a elite PF may be the best option. Rumors about LMA and Love spread around the world recently, and Morey recently states that it is possible to get Love/LMA even they are not in FA this year. So how can we get them after we sign DH12? Simple! Asik + TRob!
Asik himself has the contract $8,374,646 which is unable to trade with LMA/Love even under new CBA. But when Asik + TRob, we can do it:

    O. Asik + T. Robinson = $8,374,646 + $3,526,440 = $11,901,086 (enough to get LMA/LOVE)

    Starter
    D. Howard $20,513,178
    L. Aldridge/K. Love $15,756,000/$14,693,906
    C. Parson $926,500
    J. Harden $13,668,750
    J. Lin $8,374,646

    Role Player
    D. Motiejunas $1,422,720
    T. Jones $1,551,840
    F. Garcia $2,600,000
    J. Anderson $916,099
    P. Beverley $788,872

    Role Player
    T. Ohlbrecht $788,872
    G. Smith $884,293
    34th pick rookie (SF/PG)

Many reports states that Love wants to leave his team due to his 4-year contract, and the injury problem of LMA always make his team headache. Anyways, in order to make them happen, Morey may have lot of things to do in this summer, and I am highly confident he can get his job done very well.

Sorry for my bad English and welcome to discuss.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the non-guaranteed contracts still count against the cap until they are waived? This is the part I'm not sure of the details like partial guarantees ... etc.

If you are wrong here and we don't have enough room to sign Dwight to the max then your thesis is broken because T-Rob would be used to free that cap space.

In any event, you could use Asik + Jones + D-Mo as the trade for Love/LMA if not T-Rob.

Asik and Robinson for Kevin Love? Care to state why in God's name Minnesota does this?

Cleveland can offer way way better than we can, and it will take the #1 pick, probably Waiters and Thompson and maybe something else as well

    June
•30th: Aaron Brooks (Rockets): Fully guaranteed ($2,508,000).
•30th: Carlos Delfino (Rockets): Fully guaranteed ($3,000,000).
•30th: Chandler Parsons (Rockets): Fully guaranteed ($926,500). Already guaranteed for $600,000.

    October
•31st: James Anderson (Rockets): Fully guaranteed.

Players with no specific guarantee date written into their contracts will have their deals for 2013/14 fully guaranteed on January 10th. They would have to be released a couple days earlier in order to clear waivers by the 10th, so these players all essentially have a guarantee date of January 7th, 2014:
    •Patrick Beverley (Rockets)
    •Tim Ohlbrecht (Rockets)
    •Greg Smith (Rockets)

Minnesota is about to sink a boat load of Money into Pekovic so they don't need another center.

It's going to take Asik, Lin, Parsons, T-Rob and possibly D'Mo to land LMA or Love. And Morey would probably have to get a third team involved. Minnesota has a center and a good young prospect PF to take Love's place, they need a shooting guard and getting Gordon from New Orleans to give to them for Love may do it.

But I can't believe the Rockets could get either of those players with just Asik and T-Rob...

Thanks for letting us know that Minnesota and Portland are actively shopping their biggest star players, and they LOVE T-Rob so much that they would pass on getting the #1 pick this year from Cleveland to instead take him.

Keep on wishing and dreaming bro, but if Dwight is willing to sign in Houston as an unrestricted free agent, you get him while you can, and bid farewell to Robinson.

Once we got DH12, I guess there are two ways to get Garica.

    1) Guarantee Beverley contract so we excess the salary cap. So we can use MLE (5mil) and BAE (1.9mil) to sign FA.

    2) When we are under salary cap, we can't use MLE and BAE, instead, only can offer 2.6mils Room exception contract to Garica

Correct me if I am wrong.

I would much rather have Aldridge or Love rather than Howard. However the OP is just nuts. Portland or Minnesota aren't going to part with those players without getting a hell of a lot in return.

Yes, you'd have to waive all those non-guaranteed guys for the cap space. But, you could try to bring them back again with minimum salary exceptions or any other cap exceptions the Rockets might have after signing Howard. Worst-case, you lose all those guys, which isn't that big a deal anyway.

Where the idea really goes off the rails is in thinking Minn or Portland would take Asik and Robinson for their franchise power forwards. You'd need to throw in at least Parsons too, and I still don't think they'd do it. They need someone that can at least potentially be a cornerstone player. Someone you might be able to get with Cleveland's #1. But we only have one guy like that in the fold, and it ain't Robinson.

People can quibble about that numbers but the trade is a delusional fan trade. They could easily get something better than Asik and a undersized 4 who cant shoot. Not going to happen.

    1. with the trade making for Aldridge for Asik + T. Rob + White - it will still take more to get him.

    2. if that happens them make another trade for Bledsoe

Hou In: Bledsoe + Crawford + Trade exception
Hou Out: Lin + Jones + Delfino

Lac In: Lin + Jones + Delfino
    Lac out: Crawford + Bledsoe

    Hou Line up

    Bledsoe / Beverley / Brooks
    Harden / Crawford / Anderson
    Parsons / FA
    Aldridge / Donuts
    Howard / Smith or FA

    LAC Line up

    Paul / Lin
    Delfino / Willie Green
    Butler / Hill
    Griffin / Jones
    Jordan / FA

    What do you guys think?????
