Because he played well tonight...obviously! If it wasn't for him and Head it would've been a total blowout!

trade tmac for big bird and oscar the grouch. big bird will provide us with another solid low post presence and will distract the eye from yao. why oscar you ask? because we apparently need someone to yell at for being a has-been. grow up please.

p.s. - the j*zz lost to a trail blazer team without Randolph AND Aldridge. That means they have the capability of losing to worse than subpar teams. Homecourt is still possible!

I was kind of tick off but then I realized we still have the playoffs to look forward to and I will wait and see what the Rockets can do. I sometimes get caught in the moment but I just need to chill and "Believe It Again!!" Go Rockets!!

More like the most stagnant offense in NBA history.

    Good luck with that...

If duncan/robinson could win titles...yao/kg could...of course with a new coach, since jvg can't coach offense.

Which I think is his point about the stagnant offense.

I'm not sure, cause I don't know if he's a JVG supporter. I think he's under the assumption that two post players wouldn't work, but duncan/robinson worked just fine.

Here's your problem: McGrady can't play with Yao as the main option.

As modest and as humble McGrady is/seems to all of us, he still is a 2-time scoring champ and was considered a top 5 player when he was in Orlando. When he came here, he still had that mindset even though he knew one day Yao would need to be the focal point. As hard as he's tried (and I know he has) to defer to Yao, it's hurting his game. Maybe it's because he never really learn to take the Option 2 role and never changed HIS game towards that. Because you can't play the same way as the 2nd scoring option as you did when you were dropping 30 a night. There's no way.

It might be really "easy" to say it or "not very insightful" but that's the reason I think.

When they started the season, McGrady deferred to Yao and Yao played great while we all saw that McGrady just wasn't himself. His shots were flatter than ever; he had no elevation in his legs...it was pretty ugly.

Then when Yao got injured and McGrady came back, he went back to being #1 Option again. And look at what happened: We won games, he went back to being the TMac we were looking for and all was well even without Yao.

Now that Yao came back, everything has to go through Yao again and McGrady once again returns to his bystander role. Basically, he hasn't adapted the #2 role yet. We all want it to be 1A and 1B. Heck, I know that's what JVG, Yao and Tracy wants but it doesn't work like that. One has to take and accept the backseat role but he's also got to change his game accordingly as well...and I don't think Tracy has.

It's hard to explain but that's the way I see it. It's not like "Oh sh*t he can't play w/ Yao" or "McGrady and Yao will never work out". It's just there haven't been a real transition in the roles. Tracy needs to know that, when Yao sits and rest, he needs to not only be the scorer we know he is but he also got to be the facilitator like how he was during that stretch where Yao was injured.

Of course trading McGrady might be an option (only in our CF.net eyes) but I rather have him than trade him away for either an overpaid player or one that's past his prime.

Yeah, Kobe sucked real hard tonight. It's sad too because I was actually rooting for the Lakers to win this game so that the Clippers would lose and GSW would gain a game on them (I wasnt GSW to make the playoffs, for those wondering).

But alas, Kobe and the Lakers let me down...

Hey, maybe you were drunk, maybe you were simply depressed, that's what I felt when we lost to the Mavs 80-77. Don't worry, it's not as bad as you might think.

This seems pretty true. Good post.

I think it's well known that T-Mac is not an efficiency scorer, he's a volume scorer. He needs to get up his shot attempts and he needs to get his rhythm or else his % is gonna look ugly.

Yao is an efficiency scorer as well as a volume scorer.

Maybe having T-Mac defer to Yao before he is in a groove is not a good thing for T-Mac since he is used to getting his shot attempts early.

But T-Mac still shoots a lot...

Damn this is a weird catch-22.

    steddinotayto,

Your post makes sense, but I'd still like to wait till AFTER the post-season to make a bold statement like that. I distinctly recall a team with Yao and McGrady somehow going up 2-0 over a much more talented and better Mavs team. We didn't pull it out, but T-Mac's performance on both sides of the court in the series showed a lot to me. If he struggles this year in the first round, then I might start considering something like your post.
