i'm very happy about t jones play so far. he and omri have been the bright spots so far this early season. props to leebigez for insisting terrence was the real deal even at his lowest points out of the rotation

Jones has been offensively impressive and has some nice weakside defense sometimes. He's a terrible defensive rebounder though.

Im not sure what your disagreement is because I said I see no reason for a trade SHORT of being able to immediately land LMA. I agree I would definitely take Ibaka, Bosh, and Love if the trade was for TJ and a pick for those guys. You didn't specify, so I can hope that you meant a trade for TJ and maybe a pick or 2, but no more than 1 1st rounder though for any of the aforementioned players.

I know that a lot of hope and wishful thinking is attached to my high praise and higher hopes for TJ, but his value grows with every solid/good/great overall performance TJ puts in as a starter. The amount of add-ons in a trade containing TJ lessens by the game as well. Everytime TJ sets foot on the floor and performs like he has the last 2 weeks, the fewer players/picks we will have to include in the deal that lands any of the players you mentioned.

I understand the need to surround Harden/Howard with championship level contributors at all the other roster spots sooner rather than later because we are only guaranteed 3 years with that All-Star pairing, maybe 4. So TJ being included in a trade for a 3rd All-Star would suck, but if it is necessary, by all means the Rockets should do it.

I was simply speaking to the massive improvement TJ has shown since last year and his huge spike in overall production in all areas given full starters' minutes the last 2 weeks or so for the first time in his young career. TJ is also only 22, almost 4 years younger than Love, 6 younger than LMA, 7 younger than Bosh, and I don't care about Josh Smith because I wouldn't trade Canaan and picks for JSmoove. He is a low-BBall IQ player and would be horrible in this offense. He is athletic and a defensive great, but his overall game is too dumb and he lacks the ability to adapt to his surroundings and play with any intelligence.

I wouldn't take jsmoove for TJ straight up. makes way too much money for providing nothing more than bad shot selection, a couple steals and blocks that TJ already gets, without throwing up 10 crap shots and committing stupid fouls every game.

TJ is a valuable trade piece, but the more he plays, the more I want the Rockets to keep him and see how high he can climb.

Jones emergence gives us a better chance at netting a Love, Aldridge, or Bosh.

At this point, yes if it can land you a top PF or top star in some other fashion.

Otherwise, his play has been great. Great weakside D, very good man D, confident shooter(biggest surprise), and he's great at driving.

    T. Jones is the real deal.

You don't sell on something can can pay bigger dividends in the near future.

He seems like the perfect complement to Howard.

outside of houston, his value isn't really that high right now...maybe later on as the season progresses, but you wont get much for him now.

Actually that is not what you said. You were originally very clear that you were hesitant to trade TJones even for LMA and I was referring to the part where you said "EVEN THEN..." I have highlighted the same post again for you below.

Also my point about trading for any of those guys is not what the actual trade would be but that I would not hesitate to include TJones to get any of them (likely Asik and TJones to get salaries anywhere close to matching), except for Josh Smith which I did say "maybe" because I would have to think a bit more about that one because of his age and somewhat bad shot selection plus like you said TJ is currently on a much much lower salary.

That's mostly because TJones goes for the shot-block so much ... Even when Dwight is up in the air contesting the shot. He over helps in the paint.
Nobody ever rotates over to box out his man, thus giving up too many offensive boards.

chandler parsons is so overrated, its not even funny...how much a year is he worth on his next contract? we may as well trade, cuz we know for sure that morey is not going to overpay him. there's always fresh young talent coming out of college

If you believe this, then you have obviously never seen Morey work. I personally feel Jones is the perfect fit for this team, but it would be vintage Morey to trade Jones+Asik at the deadline and make way for DMo into the rotation.

Honestly, though, none of us have seen Morey work with a contending team like this. Now that we have our centerpieces in Harden and Howard, I wouldn't be surprised if Morey was less aggressive in trading players than in previous years.

    Everyone has a price.

But, when you have a talented young player on a cheap contract, which he will continue to be on for 2 years after the present one, a player who has no doubt crafted his training regimen specifically to turn himself into the type of player you most want at the position he plays, and that position is the position at which you have least depth, you would generally rather pull out your fingernails and use them as salsa chips than trade that player.

Or to put it another way

Different now. That was back then when we did not have any talent.
Now the rotation has been oozing with talent.

Terrence has one more year of I think 1.8 million on his contract.
That is almost as cheap as Parsons on his contract.
You just do not trade away this kind of deals unless it's for Jabari Parker/Wiggins or a Davis type.
A sure talent coming out of the draft.

yeah we have, Lowry, Scola, Artest. They were all acquired to complement Yao/Tmac, it's just those 2 broke down.

Fair enough. But during that era it was more about putting solid pieces around TMac and Yao. I don't think we started seeing Morey flip assets around until the TMac trade with the Knicks.
