I'm as big a tmac fan as anybody, but right now, I honestly think he is holding the Rockets back. A lot of it is not his fault. Injuries have hurt his game a lot while he's been in Houston. There has never been great talent around him outside of Yao, and therefore teams key on Tmac towards the end of games, therefore he is limited to a jumpshooter.

With Tmac here, Yao is deferring too much too him, and Tmac does the same with Yao; Nobody seems to want to take the game over at times and it causes confusion at the end. Both of them are too nice to coexist in a competetive NBA environment. What made Shaq and Kobe work? They hated each others guts. They would compete to take over the game towards the end of the game. What made Jordan and Pippen work? Pippen knew Jordan was the best player on the team, therefore the team knew Jordan would have the ball in the last minutes of the game. With Yao and Tmac, they don't compete with each other at the end of the game to take over, and they haven't realized who is the better player, and its just not working.

I think if we can construct a team around Yao the way the 94 Rockets were constructed, it COULD work. The 94 team was Hakeem, and role players who were VERY good at their roles. Cassell and Maxwell were our playmakers, Smith was our best 3 point shooter, Elie and Maxwell were the defensive specialists, Horry was the all around player, and Thorpe and Hererra hit the boards like crazy. Also, there were 6 or 7 deadly 3 point shooters. Hakeem didn't have to do everything for the team every night. If you watch that team, the offense flowed beautifully. Throw it in to Hakeem, if he got double teamed, kick it out for a 3, or penetrate and get an easier shot.

IF we trade Tmac right now, it might actually make sense. But it can only work if the Rockets in return can get pieces that will compliment Yao. That means good perimeter defenders that can shoot the ball and a point guard that can penetrate and create for others or create for himself.

The Rockets will NEVER get equal value for Tmac, but if we can get some 3 point shooters, a shot blocker, and/or a point guard who can penetrate and create or finish, along with some 1st round draft picks, then I think the trade can still work. The problem is, by the time all the pieces come together around Yao, he may have used up his best years. He is only 27 right now, but a man of his size and injury histories, you never know how long he can stay this good. IMHO, I think he can keep this up until he is 32, at the VERY MAX. More realistically, his game will probably decline around 30 oe 31. So if the Rockets do indeed trade Tmac, it has to be this season or before next season starts. There is not a big windo of opportunity with Yao.

Trade T-mac for AI. At least AI plays 40+ minutes per game and seldom sits out game because of nagging injuries. AI is the IRON man.

How many losses will it take for the team to consider trading T-Mac?

I’m at a point right now where I’m so sick of seeing a 2-man team or a 1-man team every game, that I don’t think there’s any other choice but to start listening to offers for Mcgrady. We haven’t had any semblance of a balanced attack the whole 4 years he’s been here. He’s taken the team as far as he can and it’s time to move on. The fans know it, the coach knows it, but most importantly Mcgrady knows it. You can just tell by the way he talks and his body language that he’s pretty much lost faith in his team. It’s the same body language he had at the end of his stint in Orlando.

i am predicting a trade is in the works to ship t-mac out of houston asap as i just can't see les can take this crap from him any longer.

btw 20m a year is a truck load $$ to throw around and a lot of people will give up their life for a fraction of this.

you have to remember we are the one trying to get a trade... anytime u trade a star player it would be 60 cent for a dollar, let alone an injury-prone heartless Tmac.
