What's a true Houston Rocket? A loser? Someone who can win, but won't? Someone that could be the best player in the league, but doesn't? You think Tracy Mcgrady is a real Houston Rocket??? I'm sure his teammates love it when he sits out every practice or doesn't go to any team events because he is "sore" or has "family problems". You can't have family problems twice a week, dude. True Houston Rocket my big white ass. If Kobe gets out on a basketball court, he doesn't care if he is playing for Memorial Middle School Junior Varsity, he is going to do everything he can do to win and make his team better. Is that not what you want a true Houston Rocket to be? Everyone hates Kobe, but I guarantee you he hits a couple of game winners and scores 40 a night, he will win you over, just like he re-won the Lakers fans this year. It will not happen, but I do not think you can say Kobe's personality won't mesh here. Obviously how we're "meshing" right now isn't working out so hot.
I am in favor of keeping him, you will not get fair market value and he is still one of the 10 best players in the NBA. Let's hope he comes back and embraces the new regime and we take off...if not, then revisit this in the offseason. DD
What manager trades or fires his most productive employee? he leads the team in scoring so how can you trade him? the only person you can trade him for is tim duncan, kobe bryant, gilbert arenas, or kevin garnett.... it does not make sense trading him for a package of players either because the players still have to get used to the system and you can get free agents in the off-season
anytime you trade a superstar at mcgrady's caliber, you're getting a discounted deal. that needs to be made clear first. so once the team decides to shop him, i'd be happy to get 70 cents on a dollar. that said, imo the question really is what is the better way to use a $20 mil cap space? given the way mcgrady is, pros and cons, are we better off to have him as is or say 2 good but not great players at 9-10 mils apiece? tough call imo. a conservative approach would be letting things work out till the end of the season and see where that takes us to. personally i'd prefer this way. so if you ask me, no, it's not the time to trade him now. a more aggressive approach is of course to shop him now before the dealine. i doubt morey and les are onto it though.
Probably the only player I would trade him is Agent Zero or Dwyane Wade, and you know that's impossible No I wouldn't trade T-Mac he's the key of this team, without him we don't have real Houston Rockets.
from a business point of view, trading mcgrady clearly would indicate to fans that the team is completely rebuilding but he is banged up so other teams might be less likely to mortgage their future with mcgrady... i personally am not interested in going to see a rox game personally b/c steve francis isn't playing so imagine how ppl might feel if mcgrady got traded at this point in the season...now mcgrady's game isn't pretty b/c he isn't extremely athletic...he is "the black larry bird" in my opinion we might as well saddle up and ride the mcgrady and yao pony into the sunset
Anyone who thinks trading T-Mac for anything short of Kobe (or the like) is going to improve this season (or next for that matter) really is out of their mind. Take T-Mac out = Yao gets triple teamed = This team goes nowhere fast. You would need some unbeliable shooters back that can create for themselves to have a chance to work at all. T-Mac currently gives us the best chance to win unless you make a super trade where you rob the other team blind.
I agree with you except for one point: you say "take T-Mac out and. . . ." Well, T-Mac IS out. He's out 22% of the time since he was a Rocket. So I'm taking some of that 22% off T-Mac's value as a player.
disagree. even with him having lost some of his athletic ability a;ready, mcgrady is far more atheletic than bird and their games have always been very different.
hahaha...YEAH i agree we're 10th in the west and the east is pretty good..a trade would most likely come from the eastern conference..i mean the only poor teams in the east are chicago, heat, atlanta.new york.philly
Anyone trading for Tmac would pretty much have to think they had a shot at winning it all in the next 3-4 years, and there aren't many teams that fit that criteria that have anything of value they are likely to be willing to give up.
i think they're the same height(larry bird and tracy-mcgrady) bird and mcgrady are the only super-stars forwards that can get away with relying on jump-shots
Trade him for who?? At this moment, we will get anything worth in trading him. Need to keep him and coach him properly so that he can contribute and accept the system. That's Adelman job.
But so much of Bird was about his competitive spirit. Maybe to score points Bird relied on jump shots, but Bird did everything in the game to win, fiercely. Bird was the best player and leader of a historic team that won championships. T-Mac is not on the level of Larry Bird.
how many games have we won with yao playing and t mac out?" now how many games have we won with t mac playing and yao out? that tells you the dude can carry a team by hisself and we all know yao is not capable of doing that...you have to keep t mac.
If we do get him, we would have to trade him for 2 start worthy players at SG, or PF' Something like, Wallly Sczcerbiak and Chris Wilcox Ben Gordon and Tyrus Thomas Cuttino Mobley and Al Thorton Some good examples. Add in a 1st round pick for either.
Whatever you think of him, we're not going to get better by trading him. The smartest move at this point is to see how things go when he returns.
just for Kicks.. which one of the 10 below is he currently better than? And I am not necessarily saying hes not top 10 (not in any order) 1. Kevin Garnett 2. Tim Duncan 3. lebron james 4. dwayne wade 5. allen iverson 6. dwight howard 7. steve nash 8. baron davis 9. kobe bryant 10. deron williams
