i just hope when next playoffs rolls around, tmac can afford to have an off-game and we can still win. like 20 pts and 7-8 assists. apparently that wasn't the case in all the rocket playoff games so far. all i hope is next yr, yao can truly take one playoff game and make it his own, his very own game where he's absolutely beasting (like that wizards game, that warriors game). tmac can give us the other 3 games.
So far, Dirk, Garnett, TMac, and Yao are in the same group, they are soft, need big wins to prove otherwise.
i think dirk and garnett have advanced past the first round. that's better than tmac + yao combined. hell i wouldn't put dirk (i don't think too highly of him either) w/ this group b/c he has achieved more team-wise since dallas did go to the finals and WCF/
No, Dirk had a better team, if you put Tmac in that team, then at least they should beat Gold States. As Garnett, he gets most of points by a middle range jump, and defers his role in the end game to his guards, which is an indication of a soft player. To me Tmac and Yao are still getting better, especially for Yao.
i don't think anyone cares for what if. they have gone farther than tmac and yao. tmac has not advanced in 6 tries. yao has not dominated a single playoff game. so although i think tmac/yao are better than dirk (i still think KG has had the better career since he did win an MVP and can still regain his top 5 status next yr in boston), the general public cares for winning.
Yes, Dirk and KG are better than Yao (maybe TMac too), they are not the same level as TMac and Yao as for the winning, but they are not mental strong, Dirk should win the title, but he did not. He is the second MVP player who lost the first round playoff, someone said on the TV he could be the biggest loser if he can not win a title.
A LOT of superstars have not won titles. so if dirk doesn't win one, i don't think anyone cares. nash will never win one either. malone/barkley/ewing... tmac and yao have the team to do it big. if they fail again, i don't know what i would do to them if they come to LA. next yr is the yr dammit. they don't have to win the ring next yr, but htey better advance deep. im tired of this one and out.
My friend has been lurking this thread, he wants me to post his msg. Here it is... Saying T-Mac doesn't show up in the playoffs is ridiculous. He has the 3rd highest PPG average inthe playoffs in NBA HISTORY! he averaged 34PPG vs the Hornets in 01-02 (I think it was that year), in 02-03 he dropped 44pts in game 2 but the rest of his team only scored around 30pts and they lost (that series he averaged like 30/6/6), in 04-05 he hit a GW in game 2 and had an amazing series, and this past season he brought the team back from halftime defecits in each home game...huge 2nd half of game 1, hit the shot that sealed the game in game 2, amazing comeback in game 5 which included 16 assists, and in game 7 had one of his best all around playoff games in which he single handedly led the Rockets from around 15pts down. With T-Mac hot JVG sat him for a few minutes, and the rest of the game they lost because of the horrible showing defensively, not offensively. You keep bringing up LeBron, but he was crap much of the playoffs. Even in the Pistons series, he sucked 3 of the 6 games, including a 10pt showing in game 1, and in both game 1 and 2 didn't take any shots in final few minutes and passed off on potential game winners. Bron is also statistically one of the worst clutch performers in the regular seasons (getting owned by Kobe last season, Wade single handedly outscored Cavs in 4th this year, 9-9 on FT's against Pistons until final 30 seconds where he went 0-2, missed a number of shots totie/win game vs Mavs, and in playoffs huge choke against NJ in game 4). You also seem to forget games like against the Kings where he single handedly won the game in the 4th quarter. Anyway, T-Mac is still an elite player. he showed hen Yao was out that he is still an elite scorer (30PPG on 45% shooting). He has become an amazing passer, much improved defender, still a good rebounder, and has become more vocal and taken more responsibility as a leader. He should have showed up moreso on the road against the Jazz, but everyone was horrible on the road (game 2- only 4 Rockets players scored...you won't win in the playoffs with that). He took control in every single home game, and his performances to lead the team back after big defecits was incredible.
Actually we were looking pretty dominant when mcgrady was in attack mode?. remember the spurs game?. or the jazz gamne where he had 45?. the heat game?...we were beating all those elite teams when tracy was going on full throtel. I tottaly do agree with youre good self that we need to involve both yao and tracy more often and not rely to heavily on one of them.
exactly, lebron did carry the pistons. but people made it sound like he dominated that entire series. he basically had 2 "GREAT" games v. the pistons, the other 4 were either mediocre to above average-good. but the thing is, the pistons were not that good. utah would have won the east easily. the thing that will make tmac a much more dangerous scorer again is his jumper. he has to be able to work out the kinks (elevation is key and more arc on the jumper). the rest i think adelman will help him out with. but like i said again, EVERYBODY on this board expects tracy to be jordan-like. wants him to dominate every possession, every quarter, every half, every 4th quarter, every game. like i said, tracy played great for 3.5 games. played mediocre for the 2.5 road games (first half of game 3 was pretty good). but i have always said? where was yao to give us that one game - that superstar performance that people will talk about when they bring up yao when they talk about him in the playoffs? we have not seen that (hopefully next yr we'll see a game where yao puts up 35-38 pts, 12-15 boards in the playoffs). we needed that one game where tmac didn't really show up and others to step up beyond their capabilities (like a daniel gibson in game 6). but tracy was VASTLY INCONSISTENT in that series like he was all year. that was the ODD thing about it. he usually plays better on the ROAD than at home b/c of the pressure. this yr, he's whack. that can easily be changed.
and this is what i mean when yao was out - tmac was in a "scorer's mode" <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/tkRZlTRLBSg"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/tkRZlTRLBSg" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> notice these are all scoring highlights (so yes tmac did miss shots), but look at the plays drawn from him. where were there for the jazz? even if tmac misses his J, he would have curled to the basket for half of them. this is what tracy will do w/ adelman. an attacking tracy -> 30 pts EVERY night is something to be expected
Did we beat Dallas two years ago, when we had no PG issues since we had Sura and James? No, we didn't. McGrady was unstoppable in Orlando, yet he didn't win a playoff series. So letting McGrady run wild at the expense of marginalizing Yao will result in yet another failure.
tmac w/ some help can beat ANY team on ANY given night. in fact, if we faced those teams in the playoffs w/ just tmac, i'm sure we can get 2 wins in a 7 game series. but we need yao and others to win 4 games. no player outside of jordan can win a series single-handedly.
we lost to dallas 2 yrs ago b/c of the lack of depth and our perimeter defense. not b/c tmac or yao. tmac did EVERYTHING humanly do and as close to a jordan-like performance on both ends as u can get. we lost b/c jason terry tore us apart and we can't have tmac guard dirk, finley, and stack then have him on terry. wesley and sura were ABUSED defensively. that's where we lost ultimately. this yr, we lost b/c of our guards completely disappearing on offense.
We might get 30 points, or we might get an 8/25 night where McGrady shoots us right out of the game, with the possible side effect that Yao only gets say 8 shots. Just because he attacks, doesn't mean he scores. Go back over the boxscores from last year and you'll see plenty of the 8/25 clunkers.
But you want an offense where McGrady plays like LeBron and Yao plays like Zydrunas Ilgauskas. The problem is we already know what happens when we set the offense up like that; we lose in the first round. Why bother trying it again, especially when we know Yao can do far better?
when did i say that? i just want to say i want to see tracy play more off the ball while james/francis/alston handles the ball and gives yao his same share of touches. me and blazer have said tracy can only give us 2-3 games in the first round. this team needs yao to play MUCH MUCH better than his star effort in the playoffs to advance => we need him to be a superstar. so adelman will probably give tmac 20-21 shots again like last yr and yao 18 but he'll be much more involved w/ his passing. both will have their share of shots. if both are much more efficient in this offense like we expect, both will score. hopefully there'll be actually plays where we have a yao-tmac, not like JVG where when we go to others, yao isn't involved in the play and only looks to offensive rebound and you're making us sound like we're degrading yao when u compared him to Z. it's not a correct or fair comparison. c'mon man, don't question our intelligence.
again, we're comparing adelman v. JVG in terms of offense here. when tmac had those games, he rarely went to the basket and settled for the outside shot. and the outside shot is off and on. u have said it urself that JVG's offense was bad in terms in either went to yao or tmac and now u expect the same thing w/ adelman. u do know thats why we got him and got rid of JVG. relax, yao ming will get his. tmac will get his. yao will reach a higher level of status. tmac will regain his. rockets win. rockets fans rejoice, throw a party worldwide, smoke some weed, go to sleep for 3 months, then go again in halloween.
