A couple day old thread, but after looking at all the trades and considering what the teams around the league value, arrived at what charvo has here - in my opinion the best idea if the Rockets want to trade now.

New York is tired of mediocricy and francis, an exciting allstar with AI type hype could fit in there. Houston dumps a lot of a salary in the trade and possibly comes out a better team by subtraction. Additionally, JVG knows these guys and they would quickly fit right in.

This trade is reasonable, i don't see why some people can't see the better of it. It's not about resetting either - i think the rockets will be a better team with the emerging kurt thomas and veteran ward.

    good one, Carvo

Othella Harrington is also a nice player who everyone probably still remembers. It wasn't like the Rockets burned the bridge with that guy. Kurt Thomas is why I make the trade, but Charlie Ward's experience with Van Gundy is a factor. I don't want to see a bunch of guys coming in and fumbling around with Van Gundy's system. It'll be a short-term experiment of 2 years if it doesn't work.

As far as New York side of the deal goes, Steve can lead the Atlantic Division to a playoff spot without a problem. Steve will be happy, and I think the Rockets will be happy too when all is said and done.
