Maybe we could sign Stephen Jackson now?

    Maybe its for next season.

Maybe its to ensure they're way way under the cap to avoid luxury taxes.

Maybe they want to pay Yao a little extra on the side (wink wink) so that he'll definitly stay in Houston.

Rice at 9 minus Amaechi at 4 should equal 5.

I don't understand why they continue to waste first round picks. I just don't get this. Sure the salary dump was great and I don't think we need rice but we just gave away a pick.

    Terrible.

I'm in shock. There has to be more to this!
Sorry for the doubts, MCL-etc., although this is still insane.

Wait a minute? So our salary cap goes down right? from 8 mil to Rice to 2.5 to Amechi? So we freed up about 4.5 mil? So that means we could've signed James Posey w/o hitting luxery tax?

    Remember this?

SALT LAKE CITY -- Comments made by Utah Jazz reserve forward/center John Amaechi to a London newspaper aren't expected to help his already tenuous future in Salt Lake City.

The Independent quoted Amaechi, a Briton who signed with the Jazz in 2001, as saying that Jazz coach Jerry Sloan told him recently, "You know what your problem is? You hate white people, you hate Americans and you think you're smarter than everyone else.''

The comments attributed to Sloan in the article were actually made by Jazz assistant coach Mark McKown, Amaechi told The Associated Press Tuesday. Team spokesman Kim Turner agreed that the comments came from McKown.

Not really because we are still over the cap with this move. That leaves us with only what's left of the MLE which is about 1.5 million. This move was to save us for the luxury tax this year if it happens.

That jazzfanz link said Amaechi was making around 4. Can anyone confirm what his actual salary is going into this season? And I'm pretty sure Rice was set to make 9.

I think there has to be more moves to be made. Maybe what we are seeing is JVG getting rid of some of the guys that don't fit to his style that he wants and working to add more role players (Griffin, Pike, etc.) that he thinks will play his style of ball.

Odd thing about it is it's happening so late in the offseason....

PS~ Pearl Jam rarities/b-side album will be out Nov. 11

    :) Snuck it in there!!!!!!

Then we would have absolutely no shooters on the team.

Who cares... Rice was a scrub who was gonna play even WORSE this year than he did last year.

Also, this avoids us drafting another BUST in the 1st round.

Who starts at the 3 now? I still thought it might be Rice to begin the season.

John has taken down his old website, and is working on his new one over the off-season. http://meech.org :)

I think at least he'll get on with JVG. If he stays.

oh my freaking god, this means a few things:

1.)Either roxs managment is really dumb, or we are set to make a free agent signing some time soon.
2.) Our number one trade asset besides the untouchables is gone plus a number 1 pick for a scrub, meaning no trade deadline action this year.
3.) Im going to have to sit through another 2 hour espn draft without a mention of the rockets.

P.s. why hasn't any of the clutch crew given their two cents on the biggest move this offseason.
