This sounds a fantastic trade to me except for one thing....we still wouldn't have gotten our superstar which means winning a championship is entirely reliant on how strong Yao comes back.
Sorry if posted, but Sixers are stepping up efforts to move Brand. Could this be what we are waiting for?
If: i) the Sixers are REALLY desperate to move Brand's salary; ii) the Rockets have the appetite to stomach that salary; and iii) there are no other teams with the capacity or the appetite to take on such a salaray; then the Rockets have huge leverage in this trade. Do it? Yes, do it. Opportunities like this (if true), where a team is willing to give up the #2 pick in a very strong draft in order to shed salary, come only once in a lifetime.
As I said, HW disputed this(not that that means much but ehh) I thought I read this recently but maybe I was dreaming. If you don't mind me asking, gotta link? Thanks
Rockets dont really have any contracts that we dont really want, so we cant have them take those back. But with taking Brand back.. We would get a higher pick for less than the price of the 4th.
Word among NBA executives Tuesday was that the Sixers were stepping up their efforts to trade Brand, whose value – if not his salary – has been decimated by two lost seasons in Philly. CBSSports.com http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm
2010 opening lineup: brooks/lowry turner/taylor iguadola/battier bosh/hayes yao/miller use mle on brad milller
Man I know man...u never know i trust morey alot! But if we end up with 2# pick Ima trow myself out of my house lol
I think you do it ONLY if you were able to then flip the #2 pick for a #4 and #6 or #7 pick. In other words, 2 for 1 in a very strong draft would solidify this team for the next 10-12 years. THAT would justify the onerous expense of carrying Brand's bloated salary.
Wow, that would be a steal if we would only be giving up Jeffries, Anderson, Alexander Johnson, a 2011 2nd round, a 2012 1st round and 3 mil. for Brand and the #2 pick . Although i feel Phillie would ask for more .
This would look juvenile on the forum of another team, but I know damn well that DM tries to do things like this. The only thing is, the other teams frequently fail to cooperate, which means it could take 2-3 years to get there. I can see this pretty easily for this season: Brooks/Lowry Martin/Eric Bledsoe Josh Childress/Ariza Cousins/Scola/Hayes Yao/Cousins/Brad Miller Hill, CBud, #14, 2012 NY pick for Cousins purchase late round 1st, take Eric Bledsoe (for example) Between MLE and Battier, Jeffries, maybe another pick, get Josh Childress (RFA) and Brad Miller (FA). JUST AN EXAMPLE - I know there is fault to be found here...
Not so unrealistic - Brand is a negative in this deal. Aside from getting out from under Brand, they add a 1st, a 2nd, and $3 million, plus expirings. That $3 million means more to those owners than you think. $3 million to them is like, umm, $50 to me.
I wouldn't even mind if we didn't get bosh if we got AI2, and Evan Turner. Even with Brooks, Turner, AI2, Scola, and Yao we could contend for a championship.
If we do this trade Evan Turner better be the next kevin Durant or a all star. Or daryl moreys job will be in jeopurdy.
