I don't know about this.... If this deal were the case, the Rockets would have Brand, Hill, Cousins(swapping #2 and #4), Scola all at the same position.
Elton Brand would be a hard pill to swallow. He's declining rapidly and his salary is going up for the next 3 years. Would it be worth it for Evan Turner?
Wake me when something happens. Saying and doing are 2 different things. All the wheelin and dealin a couple of years ago got us what? It got us dorsey. This we will spend over the lux tax got us what? Nothing.
I never know where this Sina stuff comes from but I always like to point out their predictions do sometimes come true. The Juwan Howard season ending heart thing being my favorite example. If this is true then I am all for it. No cap space for the foreseeable future but you get a franchise pick and a player in Brand who can contribute somewhat if not add a solid contribution - if healthy. So what if he is overpaid, we aren't footing the bill.
Theory filler 2010 1st round (our 14th) 2012 1st round cash for number 2 pick brand then trade the number two pick to Minny for number 4 pick (cousins) little ricky Which means filler 2010 first round pick 2012 first round pick for cousins (we'd select him at number 4) little ricky brand (since we'd be rebuilding, his contract wouldn't kill us) How is this for a young core? Rubio Chase Hill Cousins Brooks .
I think that #2 pick would be very valuable, and we could trade down and add enough stuff to make Brand's salary palatable.
Meh on that Elton Brand contract. Is it worth it? I dont know? And Turner or Cousins? Cousins or Turner? Of course all speculation and rumor. Could be all false and/or nothing comes of it.
Really??? I mean, really? "All the wheelin and dealin" also got you Donte Greene, who became the crucial piece in the Artest trade, which helped the Rockets get out of the first round. And before you say that the Rockets could have just taken Green at #25, remember that it also netted the Rockets that early second rounder from Memphis. That pick was used to dump Francis's contract on Memphis, which got the team under the luxury tax, which enabled Morey to use Les's money to buy picks in 2009, the last of which was . . . Chase freakin' Budinger! I can almost guarantee you that Morey does not have the green light to purchase a THIRD second rounder in 2009 if the team had had to pay luxury tax in 2008-09.
NO CHAMPIONSHIP = NOTHING HAPPENED!! IF UR NOT FIRST UR LAST! UR A SOFT FAN, HARD CHAMPIONSHIP CALIBER FANS DO NOT ACCEPT MEDIOCRITY LIKE JUST GETTING BUDINGER. ROCKETS FANS ACCEPT MEDIOCRITY AND THAT'S WHAT THEY GET!!!!!
I know Brands contract is bad, but this still seems like highway robbery for us. We give up nothing talent wise. And who knows, maybe reuniting with Battier will inspire Brand.
