how about............... mobley + taylor + padgett + pike and anyone else for allen iverson ai wants out and this trade doesn't involve steve
That's weird, because Billups is providing the Pistons with about the same stats as Francis provides us, except Billups is a better 3pt shooter (important in the inside out game), beyond that, we would also be getting a 10 and 5 forward. If anything the opposite of what you are saying is true. We would be throwing away the future potential of Steve for the present value of Billups and Prince. I hope that we can get more in trade for Steve, but if this was the best offer we got, I would take it. Wow. That just might be the most selfish, shoot first, lowest FG%, no defense, skipping practice, skipping games backcourt in the history of the NBA.
Chauncey is only 5 months older than Steve. so hard to say if he doesn't have as much or more potential than Steve does.
Do you know something we don't know? The rumors about Sheed only making a pitstop in Atlanta (with Detroit as a possible finish line) are certainly running rampant right now.
It was a loose reference to the 1984 draft, and a pretty funny one at that... 1984 Draft 1) Hakeem 2) Sam "I post as MacBeth on the BBS" Bowie 3) Michael Jordan 2003 Draft 1) Lebron 2) Darko 3) Carmelo
If that trade is available, it would probably be wise to take it. Chauncy Billups is a great shooter and will get the ball to Yao more. We will lose some rebounds, but it's worth it. Francis has been so inconsistant this year, which does make it harder for us to want to trade him, but the deal is great. I hope it doesn't happen, I love Francis, but the deal will make us better. It will also strengthen our bench. Our 2nd stringers would be Jackson, Prince, Nachbar, Taylor, Weatherspoon. Not bad...
Team chemistry isn't too high on your importance meter is it? It would be a fun social experiment though having Francis and Iverson fighting for touches in the backcourt.
That would be the perfect trade... in 2104 when NBA games will be played with three basketballs simultaneously....
if you ask my ex girlfriend she'll tell you that i don't know anything. i just made up those 2 situations, but they make sence don't they?
After looking at some stats, if we can get Billups, Prince, and Darko for Steve then thats to much to pass up. I just hate to give up the TE.
I'm sorry but i would say that if this ever goes down it will be the worst thing that the rockets organization has done in awhile. I wouldnt give up steve for anyone and i would be the first to say that steve isnt playing his best basketball. His numbers are down from previous years but thats the way its going to be from now on. Yao is the man in town now. People just have to let steve get used to running the offense JVG wants. I mean its a new coach and a new system. Of course its going to take a while to mesh. They should just keep all the players they have and just try to make there bench a little stronger by giving up some of the smaller guys like Pike etc. The people that they shouldnt trade are Mo, Cato, JJ, Stevie. Cat, Yao. I think those are the rockets core players that they shouldnt give up no matter what. Unless there are major circumstances. Trading a big name would just set them back because they have to start all over and try to learn each other. The rockets are getting better and better every game. I SAY NO TRADE!! I hate reading posts about trade steve because he had a game or two. Geez at first it was trade Cat then cat started to improve his game a little then its trade Steve. I mean cmon, how can we have a good consistent team when we dont have consistent fans who just accept what we got and make the best of it. Because i have to say the rockets on paper are one of the best in the league and if you give them a little more time with the same core players then everyone will soon see that. For example: Dallas when they started out also Sacramento. Same core players. Thats how i see the rockets but once you loose one of those players they have to start all over again and then we get trade talks again..
Chauncey Billups is making 42% of his 3 pointers this year, and he is also among the leaders in 3 point field goals made. BTW, JJ and Cuttino are among the leaders in 3 point field goals made and percentage-wise. I thought Billups was a bricker. Look at his 3 point field goal percentage from the 3 years prior to this season. .392 .394 .376 That's pretty damn good considering he's basically had to create his own shot rather than have someone pass out to him for wide open 3 pointers. I can see why this trade rumor is bandied about. Tayshawn Prince and Billups for Francis would not be seen as a move backwards in my opinion. It's certainly not the Ray Allen/Brent Barry deal that I liked, but it certainly expands the spacing in the half-court.
The Rockets are now paying Steve Francis too much money to play the position of Playmaker. A position that he doesnt show as much potential as when he played the open iso game. With a switch in the Rockets game plan Steve might become expendable in the off season.
Bad deal don't let this seasons comparable stats fool you, SF is a load more talented than either Billips (or Prince). While the trade might not be bad for the current teams level of play, you would hold out for something much more for SF. Now SF (plus a future #1) for Billips, Darko, and filler, that would be a lot more reasonable. Okur is a non-factor in trades because he will be a unresticted FA the team that has him going into the offseason has no advantage I believe. Thus we can go after him in the offseason (MLE) just as easy as we could try to trade for him and resign him.
how do you any of you know darko can even play yet?because he was dunking on spoon?get real the rockets are not knowen for bringing out the talent in players.check the recored besides yao ming he would come to the rockets and would be a big bust i think.
I agree that we can get a lot for Steve, but that'd happen anyway. It isn't as if we're going to trade Steve for Billups and Sura and trade exception. Rox management knows not to just give him away. Whatever trades are being discussed now, though, will more likely bear fruit in the off-season. You have to get at least one exciting player in return for Steve. Otherwise, season ticket holders might dry up next year (unless we start winning more consistently, of course, but the crowd that pays money to see a team play won't show up just for 3 point shooting).
