If this deal does go down, we're basically in the lottery.

Steve was one of the reasons RudyT was fired, why would he want to coach him again?

Then you dont realize the signifigence of the owner of this site stating that RRNY has sources...or you are one of the poeple they were talking about that never believe anybody has sources.

sometimes they end up wrong...but he has a decent track record..

If you did indeed read all the posts in this thread before posting...than you must not have understood them.

Bassfly - that's exactly what Rockets2K was saying. If you had read the entire thread, you would have seen that your post was 120 replies ago. Early on it was determined it was the same thing that Chad Ford completely made up, and we have been discussing that the entire time. That is what Rockets2K is bringing up.

Again, it's probably a mix-up somewhere in the way this info got to ROCKET RICH NYC... that this deal is not legit and not a rumor. But I do know that RRNYC has good contacts. It's probable in this case though that it was a mistake.

really, why would you say that? The rockets would be getting a PF who can put up 20/10 and is only 23 years old, and then a true PG who averages 7 assists a game and that puts us in the lottery? Please elaborate.

This deal would create logjam at the big men position. Eric Snow is not a good shooter. Ruben Pattersen is not a good shooter. This has the look of Van Gundy's hands all over it. These are defensive guys who can't shoot.

Reasons not to do the trade:

Randolph is a black hole, he doesn't play defense, he doesn't run back in transition, and he is a thug!

Patterson's contract is a tough pill to swallow, he can't shoot, and he is a thug!

Woods is dumb as a doorknob and is a thug!

    Snow's contract would handcuff us!

There has to be a better deal out there!

    I'd rather have expiring contracts!

Why couldn't we acquire Wallace before Portland traded him instead?

We need to give Steve and JVG at least one year together unless there is a deal that we can't refuse!

    I'd rather have BRAND!

KOBE is a FA this summer!

We are going to make the playoffs, Steve WILL SEE THE LIGHT then!

I don't see much of a difference (on the court at least) between Randolph and Elton Brand. Undersized big men, great around the basket, strong, great hands...Randolph's scoring touch and LH shooting might even make him more attractive. Also, ZR doesn't have the chronic injury history EB has, although ZR has more of a chronic history than EB.

    Snow/Stoudamire - Mobley - Patterson - ZR - Ming

That would be a SOLID starting 5, IMO.

If we do end up in lotto land, I say sell the farm and go after Oakafor.

Think about it. We could have drafted Zach at #18 if we had not traded with NJ. Man, what a lineup if we had Zach and R Jefferson (drafted at #13).

Eddie Griffin absolutely ruined our team.

I am in favor of this deal because it is a huge commitment to Yao. Let's be honest, steve is not much a defender, so Randolph isnot going to weaken our defense. Actually, the inclusion of patterson will only strengthen it.

Randolph is the muscle next to Yao's finesse. His scoring ability in the low post is uncanny. The best comparison I can make is Moses Malone. You have no idea how such a wide body can be that quick and strong. Before you know it, he has hit you with his left and right hip, and has thrown up a soft 7 footer for 2. He also has the ability to hit the midrange shot. He is an all star caliber player.

This combination can work. The Francis/Yao combination was not working. The new team mold will be low post domination and teriffic team defense. No more of this crap decision making.

So, you don't want woods, randolf or patterson because there thugs, but wouldn't mind having rasheed wallace. He's the ring leader. With exception to the babysitter chaser, if you put these guys in a good environment they'll be fine.

I still have hope JVG and Steve can coexist, and lead the team back to the playoffs and beyond the 1st round. However if a move like this is going to be made, i think the rockets would be getting two solid guys in return and it wouldn't make us any worse.

Rudy has always been a big believer in Steve and I still think he is despite his firing. Remember this is the same person that continued to turn down any trade for Eddie Griffin despite how horrible Eddie would play. If Rudy believes in someone, he’ll continure to believe in them no matter what.

This is not a good trade. Mo Taylor gives you everything Randolph can give you. Randolph is a better rebounder, I'll give him that, but Mo Taylor is just as productive on offense if given the same amount of shots.

You guys honestly have not seen Randolph play. THE GUY DOES NOT PASS THE BALL. You think the ball is really going to swing to Yao with Randolph on the court. NO WAY! His teammates complain about him all the time! YOU GUYS JUST WANT TO MAKE A TRADE FOR THE SAKE OF MAKING A TRADE. We are not better with Randolph!

Trading for Wallace would make more sense! He is a better defender, more of a team player, and a better complement to Yao. Worse case scenario, Wallace would leave at the end of the season and we could go after other FA!
