Something I found of interest. This quote is from an article today in Milwaukee's paper. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/buck/feb03/119646.asp ### "The Bucks' inside game continues to be a concern, and several big men could be available in trades, including Atlanta's Theo Ratliff, Golden State's Adonal Foyle, the Clippers' Elton Brand and the Knicks' Kurt Thomas. "We really do have to focus on rebounding the basketball better," Grunfeld said. "But if you look at the Eastern Conference, there is no dominant big man, with the exception of Jermaine O'Neal at Indiana. There's no low-post force you have to consider double-teaming." Jason Caffey and Ervin Johnson started at the power forward and post positions against Sacramento, while Anthony Mason was sidelined with strep throat. Caffey has also been used as a part-time starter at center. "We don't expect our post players to average 15 to 20 points," Grunfeld said. "We expect them to get our perimeter players free with solid picks, play good, solid defense and rebound the basketball." #### Can anyone say "Kelvin Cato"? Now in all fairness it sounds like the Bucks are looking to move first round draft picks (they have 2 and possibly 4 in the next draft) for inside help. Nowhere in this article do they even remotely mention moving Ray Allen or the Rockets. However, they ARE looking for inside rebounding help and Kelvin Cato certainly would have to be someone they would consider. Chris
Kurt Thomas would bring much needed toughness. I would start him at PF until Eddie is ready. Cuttino Mobley + Kelvin Cato + Mo Taylor to New York Kurt Thomas + Allan Houston + Michael Doleac to Houston trade ID 964090 ROCKETS F: James Posey + Glen Rice F: Kurt Thomas + Eddie Griffin C: Yao Ming + Michael Doleac G: Steve Francis + Moochie Norris G: Allan Houston + Juaquin Hawkins KNICKS F: Latrell Sprewell + Lee Nailon F: Maurice Taylor + Clarence Weatherspoon (McDyess) C: Kelvin Cato + Othella Harrington G: Cuttino Mobley + Shandon Anderson G: Charlie Ward + Howard Eisley
Just to keep things going in this thread. This article about "Ray Allen being traded is not too far fetched" was already found by Grummett in another thread. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/buck/feb03/119676.asp Interesting article. Add it up with the article I found about the Bucks wanting a rebounding force ala Cato....conspericy theorists go wild! Chris
Littley1521, feel free to apply this quote to every thread you post in...show a LiTtLe self control, you don't need to post every thought that comes out of your head.
Regardless of your opinion on the trade, this should be a non-factor. If Ming gets injured then the the season is over, regardless of whether its Kelvin Cato or Jason Collier backing him up.
For what it's worth (nothing, really) I think Collier gives all and would be as good OR BETTER than Cato. I TRUST him more. (Tho Cato is doing a good imitation of the best danged back up 5 in the whole Association!)
this trade is not a rumor. a caller into 610 proposed this deal out of the blue a couple of mornings ago, just like you guys propose trades on this bbs everyday. that was it! there is no truth or rumor behind it other than one ordinary man making a hypothetical trade that would work mathematically.
Hmph. I wouldn't expect CD to say he was close to a deal. But who knows. The trade, as is, doesn't work. Redd and Cat would be pissed because one wouldn't start. You'd probably have to get a third team involved for a player the Bucks really need. And we'd have to get back a backup center, like Ervin Definitely-Not-Magic Johnson. It's been an interesting thread, though.
Check this fantasy trade out.. Houston trades: PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.0 apg in 24.8 minutes) _ SG Cuttino Mobley (17.6 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.0 apg in 41.9 minutes) _ C Kelvin Cato (4.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 0.3 apg in 17.4 minutes) _ PF Maurice Taylor (7.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.1 apg in 20.1 minutes) Houston receives: SG Eric Piatkowski (9.2 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.4 apg in 22.8 minutes) _ PF Elton Brand (18.3 ppg, 11.3 rpg, 2.4 apg in 40.1 minutes) _ SG Ray Allen (21.4 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 3.4 apg in 35.7 minutes) Change in team outlook: +10.5 ppg, -1.9 rpg, and +1.8 apg. L.A. Clippers trades: SG Eric Piatkowski (9.2 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.4 apg in 22.8 minutes) _ PF Elton Brand (18.3 ppg, 11.3 rpg, 2.4 apg in 40.1 minutes) L.A. Clippers receives: PF Eddie Griffin (8.6 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.0 apg in 48 games) _ SG Cuttino Mobley (17.6 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.0 apg in 44 games) Change in team outlook: -1.3 ppg, -3.3 rpg, and +0.2 apg. Milwaukee trades: SG Ray Allen (21.4 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 3.4 apg in 35.7 minutes) Milwaukee receives: C Kelvin Cato (4.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 0.3 apg in 44 games) _ PF Maurice Taylor (7.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.1 apg in 39 games) Change in team outlook: -9.2 ppg, +5.2 rpg, and -2.0 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Due to Houston, L.A. Clippers, and Milwaukee being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston, L.A. Clippers, and Milwaukee had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ You have been assigned Trade ID number 964622 If only it could happen.....
Interesting, I don't think I've ever seen the words Eric Piatkowski mentioned in conjuction with fantasy before.
Ray Allen for Cuttino And Taylor? PF position would scare me a lil but we do still have Cato there.......Id Take IT!!!
Tonaaayyy, C'mon man. The Bucks are not gonna trade Ray Allen and only receive Cato and Taylor in return.
