I don't know who labeled Tim Duncan as "soft," but if I said George W. Bush is a good president, would you believe that too? Maybe TD doesn't talk with arrogance like AI or others (and he speaks proper english, for that matter), but he's certainly a big physical player who's the antithesis of soft, unless that means playing dirty. I wish all of you would let this issue die. Its over and done with and if the Rockets really wanted your opinion (because apparently most of you are more qualified than the entire Rockets organization to make such decisions) they would have sought each of you out. Rudy Gay played decent in the summer league, but keep in mind that its a league comprised of players who are all trying to make the squad, and others who are trying to get back their skills from the time off... (a league without Ben Wallace and other defensive giants) and the "trade analysis" that someone posted was from the Grizzlies team website, so I doubt that it would say anything BUT the Grizzlies organization made a great deal. I know that its difficult to generalize, but have any of you heard of the Nazi's? I'm sure that there were members of German media who said that their actions were "saving the world." God gave us all brains with frontal lobes so that we could use them! All of you have given up on Battier with the Rockets before they have played a single pre-season game as a squad, and for a guy who has yet to play a single play in the NBA! This is clown shoes, folks. Think for yourselves. Suspend judgement until there's something to make a judgement about.
I see your point, but thats the whole purpose of this site..for people to say "what if" and to give their opinons...if we all just waited and made no comments until the games started then there would be no point of this website...thats what makes it fun
Since guys like you and me can't search for posts, does that mean you dug through tons of pages to find this thread? If so, that's dedication at it's best. Anyway, looking at this trade now, wow is all I can say.
Really? I've tried to look for threads like two weeks past through google and it always makes me sign in again and takes me to the home page. I guess I could just find the page number to reduce the time though. Anyway, If Rudy Gay were still a Rocket, that would be pretty awesome. Can't cry over what could've been though, who knows where we'd be now had that trade not happened.
LOL at the gay lovers. memphis is still a lottery team (hey just like us) even with Rudy Gay making max money.
I understood the decision-making process behind the trade -- we had the pieces to contend, and a proven, hard-nosed competitor like Battier made sense. But, seeing as Gay is currently averaging 22 and 7 in his 4th year in the league, Memphis clearly got the better end of the deal.
It wasn't about trading the pick as much as it was about getting so little in return. We should have gotten more.
battier is the best rocket of all time rudy gay would just score and get in the way of shanes great intangibles that cannot be measured by the box score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Without this trade: we wouldn't got W22-0 and making the playoffs... but on the other hand if Rudy Gay was in Rockets...=|
Rudy Gay 5 year 82 million Kevin Martin 3 year 35 million RG 40MPG 21.8 ppg on 48% shooting & 7 rpg (A non superstar with no Defense) KM 33MPG 23 ppg on 44% & rpg. (A non superstar with no Defense) I think we got our Rudy without the the big contract. Who care about Rudy Gay now he just got overpaid by Memphis just like Rashard Lewis in Orlando. Shane is an expire contract. Rudy gay was not the answer and will not be the answer specially for the serious money he will make. I still like the deal to bad Yao could not stay healthy and T-Mac was done after the surgery.
I would still do this trade, if I had went back in time. 5+ years of excellence > a selfish player who's underperformed and is not worth a max contract. We need a Kevin Durant not a Rudy Gay.
He wouldn't be a max contract player if we kept him, he would've simply been a great third option behind yao and t-mac, not our franchise player as he is with memphis.
