F*** this S***. We kept Juwan and traded Stro. We traded F***ing Rudy Gay and Stromile Swift, two out of the three most athletic players we have to keep Juwan and get Battier. F*** CD, F*** Morey, F*** JVG and F*** Les!!!

    OK...so basically

The Blazers has a good draft (Roy and Aldridge)
The Bulls has a good draft (Thomas and Carney)
The Celtics got rid of dead weight and got Telfair and Ratliff
    The Timberwolves got Foye
The Grizzlies got Gay AND Swift back

    We got Shane Battier

    *shakes head*

If this goes as it looks, West is a genius! Actually it's just confirmation. He "loans" us Swift for one year then get him back + a possible futur great player for an average contributor, you have to admire the strategic mind here.

Rudy Gay might not be the superstar his potential promises. But at worst, he would give you 10 and 5 in his career.

They just traded that for the same production for a guy 9 years older, 2 inches shorter, and making considerably more money.

That's not moneyball. That's just plain f*cking stupid. There had better be more to this trade.

What a waste of time. staying up all night in india to catch the draft live, and now this is what comes of it.
We coulda had the kobe/tmac of this draft, and we end up with the Nbudi Ebi of a few years ago.

This looks like a total Van Gundy move. He just doesn't know how to develop players and is uanble to judge talent. He signs player and gets rid of them; for example, Derek Anderson, maybe Stromile Swift, Charlie Ward, Mike James. Van Gundy needs to go.

sure battier is solid, has a bbIQ and all that other fuzzy stuff but he isn't going to be a game changer. If we lose tracy or yao for a few games this year we will have no one to add offense. The rockets need athletes and offense at this point and we got someone who would be OK coming off the bench.

We are not going to win a championship OR a playoff series surrounding two allstars with a bunch players who give you no more then 10ppg.

please tell me there is something else to this deal.

Do they have to trade? I assume Battier has to pass a physical and stuff like that? What is the penalty of backing out? Besides CD loosing his word, etc...

And Swift? The guy we got from them last year "for nothing"? Man, if you submitted that in a Hollywood script, the studio people would laugh you out of the room.

This has all the hallmarks of a Van Gundy move, not a Morey one. Chemistry, basketball sense, reliability, fit, a known commodity. And you dump an athletic blockhead. That's Van Gundy all the way. Also, Rudy Gay takes longer to mature than Alexander's patience with Van Gundy would last.

On the other hand, the "OMG we got Gay!" celebration is the biggest explosion of joy I've seen on this board since we landed Eddie Griffin. So don't jump off any roofs just yet.

    yeay!!!

JVG says we need to get athletic.

He gets rid of Stro and keeps Juwan.

He gets rid of Rudy Gay and gets a lesser athletic battier.

Which fictionary is JVG using?!?!!

poor tracy and yao. I really can't belive this is happening. This should be Gay and swift for #24, Battier and Miller. I would do that, otherwise forget this deal.

getting rid of swift any way we could was a victory. He was a drag on the cap and it is very apparent van gundy did not want him around. Gay, he might be good, but he might be eddie griffith. People question his work ethic. Yao and Tmac score all you need.....you need to surround them with leaders, defensive players, and people who can hit open shots. Battier does all of that, and he is proven in the nba.......this trade is GREAT. I hope everyone remembers this post at the end of the season. People are over reacting to the hype of gay. we just went from a midget at off guard to someone who can actually D up.....and that is an IMMENSE upgrade...

I was really surprised to hear Jim Foley, the rockets radio announcer, put a positive spin on the trade. He thinks Battier will be positive overall...hopefully there is something else we dont know about
