the point was that it wasn't just one Gay. He was one of four guys that guarded Novak that night.

im just glad he did :)

Novak is gonna be a fun prospect to watch develop - dude kinda looks like a 28 year old vet already physically.

i just hope he gets some reasonable PT. Surely with some effort of defense he would get into Gundy's good books.

Wasn't it UCONN? :p I agree though. I think Novak will add something right away. I think CD agrees with the comments he has made about Novak.

Ha. Yeah, I'm glad we got Novak although the rational side reminds me that he's a second round pick. I do think he can help us though and does seem like he'll be making our team.

What we basically did was trade for Shandon Anderson.....

Their #'s are almost identical given the same minutes, with a very slight edge in 3P% and rebounds. When Shandon averaged the most mitutes, it was with Houston:

    99-00 HOU 82 82 32.9 .473 .351 .767 1.1 3.6 4.7 2.9 1.17 .39 2.37 2.20 12.3

    unbelieveable.

That's a hard pill to swallow.

This was worse than any Rocket trade I can think of.

well guys really what i think the rockets should do is find someway to trade for MIKE MILLER. hes is a great shooting guard. hes 6'8 so hes pretty tall and hes a great 3pt shooter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all it was UConn, Secondly it was Gay who was supposed to guard Novak, but he kept getting burned so he was taken off the assignment.

i know big sleep. it was a typo - as mentioned in post #1248.

and i re-iterate that i'm pleased Novak scored 41 points. I'm looking at that from the perspective of being positive about the addition of Novak seperately to the subtraction of Gay.

ROY numbers? 8 mil a year? Who are you kidding?

    Chris Paul 16/8/2
    Emeka Okafor 15/11/1.7
    LeBron James 21/5.5/6
    Amare Stoudemire 13.5/8.8/1
    Pau Gasol 17.6/8.9/2
    Mike Miller 12/4/2
    Elton Brand 20/10/1.6
    Steve Francis 18/5.3/6.6
    Vince Carter 18/6/3

And the list goes on and on... The ONLY anomlay there is Mike Miller. Yeah 12/5/3 sure is ROY numbers. And since when did Rookies cost 8 mil a year?

I'll say it again. He doesn't NEED to be a star. We already have two of them. Gay as a bust would be 10/5/2 and that's be okay for me.

I'm not even saying Gay will be better than Battier next season. If Gay will just be as good as Battier I'm perfectly happy with it.

    Get real. We got robbed.

I agree completely. You are never going to see Gay take a charge or dive on the floor. Battier even said in an interview, I make good plays and good decision. I think I play very well with superstars. That is the attitude we need and type of player we need.

It is safe to say Gay has all sorts of potential. That is agreed upon. But for anyone who is comparing battier to shandon anderson or derek anderson or those types of players, that is rediculous. I guarantee every GM would take Battier over either of those players without blinking an eye.

Also everyone thinks Gay is this superstar cuz Jerry West thinks so highly of him. Remember though 7 other GMs passed on Gay and West's recent draft picks include Dahntay Jones, Troy Bell, Hakim Warrick, and Drew Gooden.

Wait and see what kind of impact Battier has on the Rox next year and what type of season they have.

I really don't know what the front office want.

They said the team need vet,so they sign Charlie Ward and Bobby Sura, trade Lue for Barry, trade Boki & JJ for Wes.After the shameful 40-point-loss to dallas, they said the team need young blood. So they use the full MLE on Swift last summer.

What is the idiot saying now?

"I am fine with playing anyone of any age. We play to win and we play the best players. I never think about how old they are; I think about how good they are."

I don't know who Battier is,I just know we have the worst bunch players in the league! I can't see any reasonable,long-term strategy to build a champion level team. NO CHANCE OF TITLE!

OK,calm down.Bobby Sura,Jon Barry,David Wesley are good players, but only for one year. Why?It's a coincidence? No.they are veterans, old or injury.Battier looks good, but he's near 29 years old and he's contract will end in 2011.Let wait and see what will happen.

    Clutch,
where did all these rookies come from?

I demand a test for new users.

    1. What former Rocket great called Sam Cassell before Game 6 to give him encouragement? (Mentioned on NBA Shoot Around show)
    2. Which Rocket was Florida's Mr. Basketball his senior year in high school and was also an all-state defensive back in football?
    3. While down 0-2 in the series, and down 8 points at the half of the Rockets vs Phoenix series in 94, which Rocket scored 31 points in the 4th quarter to launch Clutch City to the stratosphere of the NBA?
    4. What former Rocket CHAMPION wore Yao's number?

if they fail this test, then

1)I think he he meant in free agency.

2)Yes,we don't need another star right now,and that might be the reason we trade him. Gay might be a star one day,but IMHO he can't be a good role player.

3)And I don't think Gay will be as good as Battier next season,he might be better in the future, but I think Battier will be the better palyer next season.
I could be wrong, since Gay have not even played a single minute in the NBA yet.

And yes I think this is a bad trade, and I was pissed as hell just like the most of the people here, but now I think of it,it is not THAT bad,we should get more
than just Battier, but please tell me who really want Swift at this point. So it is really just Gay for Battier,Swift is just a throw in.
