We would still be getting shafted, but at least it makes some sense, for a team trying to win now. If you noticed on tv, David Stern did not announce the Rox/Mem trade. I think there is more to it. Depending on who is there at Mem #24 pick, the Rox have that pick option. This is the worst draft related move this side of eddie griffin. Rudy Gay can do anything battier can, hes much more athletic, and he will only get better. We got so lucky that a guy who a couple weeks ago i heard in the mix for #1 fell in our lap. The Rockets will be kicking themselves for years for making this trade if things stay the same.

According to the Chronical the deal can not be made official until July 12th. I don't know why this is but Rudy Gay is apparently a Rocket at least until then. Maybe CD and Less will decide this trade sucks by then.
battier isn't going to help us win next year. he will be a nonfactor in terms of wins and losses just like he's a nonfactor in memphis. if he's such a big factor in wins and losses how come he's never been involved in a PLAYOFF WIN (not series win, just one game). rudy gay will take two years to develop into a star, not two years to develop into an impact player. he's immediately better than battier as a rookie. i would find this alot more tolerable if we were able to get rid of juwan's contract as well.
