Thank you for that. I feel much better now about him as he is quicker than I remembered, though his shot is not as natural as I remembered (it looks kind of 'WNBAish?' for lack of a better word because he starts it with his elbow so deeply bent), and he's more of a set shooter on the long stuff. He won't get it off unless open. But then again the same was true for Mario Ellie.

He is laterally quicker than Rodney McCray was in his last years here and faster end to end than Robert Reid. End to end his acceleration to full running speed is not fast, but once he gets going he moves pretty well and while he's not Gary Payton side to side, he isn't bad for a guy as big as he is. I can't imagine him getting a large volume of post ups as shown, but it will be nice to see somebody on the Rockets getting those hustle offensive rebounds.

I'm getting a bit of a Rodney McCray vibe - a small forward with some power forward qualities. From what I saw I don't think playing defensively against shooting guards should even be a consideration, however.

The fact that you would trust someone else’s assessment without making your own when the tools to do so are right in front of you speaks volumes.

What tools? Stats can only offer up so much. They do not record intagibles or context of plays. I don't follow the Grizz how could those stats help me? MemphisX's post history as a fellow Clutchfans members has shown his opinion to be trustworthy. So why wouldn't I trust his assesment over some stats that only mean so much?

almost 24 hrs later and i'm still fuming over this  ...jvg and the rockets in general need to modernize their style and stop being so reactionary...jvg has to be able to develop players...that's what a freaking coach is supposed to do...is it too much for us to ask him to do his job?...when the rockets won back to back championships the team wasn't made up of a bunch of veterans, two very young players on that team, cassell during his rookie year and 2nd year and horry during his 2nd year and 3rd year in the league were very, very important to say the least to those titles and a lot of the teams in this year's playoffs had key contributions from young and inexperienced players...just putting a bunch of old men on your team, which is what the rockets are, isn't going to make you a title contender.

i have a feeling this team might turn out to be like the sampson-olajuwon rockets except that team had some real success unlike this group...sampson = tmac, because of his chronic problems with his back and yao = olajuwon...after sampson went down the rockets were basically mediocre for about 8 years until they became competitive, won a couple of titles, and won a few more playoff series after that...i guess we'll have to wait 8-10 years so that we can rebuild around yao so that we can have a chance at the title. the one good thing is that in 8-10 years jvg, patrick ewing, cd, and hopefully les alexander will all be gone....

I think an even better analogy is that of pocket aces in hold'em...the rockets folded and sent our pocket aces to memphis wher I's sure they will find the third or maybe fourth ace.

This organiztion was better off with the simplistic mindset fo Rudy...I know Rudy would have Busted CD on the head..."You crazy old man?" BAMMMM

    THis wasnt too difficult.

Think about it...Tracy MacGrady mentoring his splitting image...it would be like haveing a TMac all over again.

I have a hard time, from a business standpoint , trying to figure out how this organization plans on selling tickets because they are losing so much of the fan base that has always believed in them. It will be hard to watch this product on TV much less pay 50 bucks to see it in person. My cheap ass would have paid 100 bucks to see Yao, TMac, and Rudy Gay on the floor together.

I better stop because I starting to relive that gruesome five minutes when I just started to envision confetti in Toyota Center when it was destroyed by some old idiot on his way out the door (talk about lame duck).

My throat is starting to knot up again the way it does when u want to cry and ur holdin it in. This sucks!!!!!!!!

I think that you should review the post which you initially responded to and MemphisX's comments on his flaws that you seem to trust so implicitly.

The link shows video of players broken down by posession and outcome, which I am lead to understand is one of the ways NBA teams organize their individual player clips.

The video on the site very much addresses the specific flaws brought up by MemphisX.

"I'm going to make every one of the teams pay that passed on me."
    -Rudy Gay

He'll make us pay four times a year because he plays for our Division Rival

This has gone bak and forth for me but i will be fine with this trade IF and ONLY IF the rockets add mj and gooden without giving up luther or ne other big people on this team except howard if they could get mj for the mle and gooden for howard or gooden for next years first and a te then this trade makes so much sense its not even funny that team with a young gooden, a wiley mj and a extremly good all around player battier than this team is ready to win a few championships if they dont get either of these players than they are ready to pick up oden or durant in next years draft :)

I dont know much about Rudy Gay, but from the the clip above he can drive the ball. Can he shoot and defend?

Anyway, if the trade goes through or not (Praying it won't) : Rockets are still better then Memphis!

    Rockets > Memphis!

the rockets have no athleticism on the team currently at all...they don't have one player with good leaping ability...with the way the nba game is currently structured you cannot win and be successful without athleticism...stro is an athletic freak and gay is only 19, he's only gonna get better, his shot is gonna get better, his driving skills, his post up skills, his leaping ability, his athleticism, his b-ball iq and smarts are going to improve....he might end up being an all star for many years...good job rockets....we can witness this first hand since we play memphis 4 to 5 times every year.....  ...........jvg needs to change his style or the rockets need to change coaches....enough is enough!!!!

No surprise FSN is blowing the trade. Wouldn't want to upset the Rockets.

This is the dumbest trade ever, usually i am fine with my teams choices but, This is a bad idea. I mean we spent forever trying to get swift and we give him and Gay away for Battier, I'd say that this makes passing on Bush easy to forgive and forget.

I'll be OK with this deal if we address our holes in our lineup. In the playoffs, a 8-9 man rotation will work. This is what we have right now.

    1. Alston
    2. McGrady
    3. Battier
    4. (Hole)
    5. Yao
    6. Mike James (if we get him)
    7. Juwan Howard (back up PF if we keep him)
    8. (Hole)
    9. Mutombo

So we need a starting #4 and a backup #2/#3
Head, Hayes, Bowen, Bogans can help us through the regular season with each of them probably averaging 5-10mins. in the playoffs. I don't expect Sura and Wesley to be back with us.
