So cap experts, does the trade work financially? I see that Swift & Battier have close contracts when you look at the salary per year, but the years are different. Is it salary by year, or total contract value that coutns?

Richard Justice should stick to writing about baseball. He's not even good at that, but at least he knows something about it.

I still can't figure how this deal actually works. But if it does, this is the most bizarre thing I've ever seen.

We just gave a lot up, and for Battier? Impossible to understand...

10 and 5? Not as a rookie, but as a ceiling, Battier is 10 and 5.

I'm glad we got San Antonio's kind of guy, because they didn't reach the finals either.

Not a chance Gay could have hit that summit...

Is it Stromile or Juwon? A poster several pages back said the Memphis radio station was reporting it was Howard.

Now that I've had time to think about it, I'm still flummoxed and flabbergasted.

WTF, battier only had 10 points 5 rebounds last season. come one, Give up swift (about the same production as battier ) and the amazing rudy gay. WOW, what a stupid move. Even worse than the griffin & jefferson trade. FXXXXXXXXXXK CD and JVG.

I was very excited to see Foye go 7 and assumed Gay was ours at 8. When the trade was mentioned, I honestly had mixed feelings. Like most fans, I tend to like brand new shiny rookies with all the potential.

But Battier actually fits our team like a glove. Dick Justice's article echoed my thoughs as I called an old buddy and made the Bowen comparison. The PHX style of play is in vogue and entertaining. But we're trying to be the Spurs much more than PHX or Dallas.

It's fairly easy to bang on Battier because of his 10-5 numbers. But I think he will do the intangibles, hustle, rebound, hit key shots, much like the Mario Elie role, but taller. His statistical contributions will not accurately describe his contribution to the team. He is the type of person that allows talent to work synergistically.

I would like to think that we could have gotten more for Gay, but if it was some other player, the fit would not be nearly as good. Gettin rid of Stormile appears to be addition by subtraction. I am surprisingly ok with the trade.

This is just like a Divac for kobe pick for Jery West.

Just got home from the draft party and I'm still pretty pissed. For some strange reason, I had a feeling the Rockets would do something incredibly stupid and unpredictable.

Why can't our Houston picks just do the smart obvious things instead of trying to outsmart everyone? Why?

A good kick in the balls might take my mind off this misery...
