Since there are rumors out there about Memphis wanting Iverson and putting Miller on the block, I would not be tremendously surprised to see this as part of t three-team deal to accomplish that. I don't really think Miller is coming here, but you don't know. Maybe it's a deal that would send Gay, Swift, and maybe Miller or Jones to Philly, or possibly Gay, Head, and Miller or Jones to Philly, with Memphis getting AI and possibly Swift or Head, then the Rox getting Korver and Battier. Who knows until it's finalized? I would not be that unhappy about such a trade which would eventually boil down our #8, Swift, and Head for Battier and Korver. Maybe it's not the best deal in the world, but it gives us shooting ability and some more athleticism up front, plus plenty of experience and a chance to get Mike James or some similarly talented combo guard with the MLE.
im ok with the trade, just not with it including swift. But perhaps we can sign wilcox or another pf...
Have you seen him play? As in, more than one or two games of the NCAA tournament? He IS very good right now! He'd be a starter right now! He's probably better than Battier right now. He has room to improve because he has the tools to be an all-star. If T-Mac ages prematurely, Gay could potentially step into the role as go-to guy. At the very least, he'd add youth and athleticism to an old, slow team, and cheaply at that. There's a reason this guy could have gone #1. And we gave him away for Shane Battier.
so what happens if yao or tracy go down to injury (or God forbid both)? We need someone who can step up when one of our stars is out. There's no one else on the team who can give us consistent scoring if the situation arises. We're not going anywhere with two superstars and a bunch of guys that give us no more than 10ppg. solid defenders are nice but we're still going to lose if we cant put up more then 75 points.
talk about an uneven trade! make it nick collison plus a reggie evans action figure with "nut grabbing action". that would be bad arse.
NOW I HAVE ALREADY BEEN FEELING SO BAD FOR THE ROCKETS NEXT SEASON. WE GAVE UP A POTENTIAL THIRD SCORING OPTION, NOW WE ARE JUST GETTING BACK TO THE STARTING POINT AT VERY BEGINNING.
I will admit I wanted Gay, but losing him isn't what really pissed me off. I just refuse to believe that Swift + the #8 pick couldn't get you more than Battier.
Hey, Rocket Scientist!! We just traded our only tradable assets for someone who is a backup on 25 NBA teams and barely scratches 10 points a game and we got no cap relief to get anybody to address our now crappy PF situation. Should we all be singing the praises of our new star to go with Tracy and Yao. F** No. We now have more holes than cap space to fill them with. We got our James Posey player so we can copy the heat and paid out the ASS.
You're wrong. It is us who have to roll the dice. With a healthy Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady, and Shane Battier, our team is still not a championship contender. Dwayne Wade and Shaq are as good as TMac and Yao. Udonis Haslem, Antoine Walker, Alonzo Mourning, Gary Payton, James Posey and Jason Williams are all better than our other players - and Miami barely beat Dallas. At best Shane Battier is a slightly better player than James Posey. With Shane Battier we are maybe the 4th best team in the West - maybe.
Don't give me "Shane is solid". He's a 10 and 5 guy and we've been killing Howard for the same output. This sucks.
chill with the caps rookie. Battier is a good solid player defensively and can hit the three. Now our problem is at the 4. Pick someone up via Free agency i guess. i do like our 2nd round pick
I've been clicking refresh like a robot for the last 20 minutes praying someone will pop up saying this is all a big mistake.
... And to think, the majority of y'all were deeply concerned about losing Head to move up and get Roy. Ah, such innocent times. My, what a difference 36 hours makes...
Very true. Half of the board was having a coniption to give up Gay to move UP for Roy. Now we give up Swift and the pick for Battier. Wonderful....
