Trade: Rudy Gay AND Stro Swift for Shane Battier?

why doesn't the money match up? I thought Swift made $5.2m and Battier $5.3

Yes, the money does match up. Swift & Battier's salaries are almost precisely the same, and you don't have to send anything for a player who isn't signed yet (Gay).

 

And potentially more comical.

Gay fans and Swift fans know all about potential.

 

I'm guessing hakkim Warrick ot the Grizz Trade exception is gonna also be thrown our way.

I still can't get over the fact that Gay could have very well been first picked and we trade him for mediocre player like Battier who is a bust in my opinion. I can't believe he was a sixth pick. His 10 ppg will really worry the other teams. We could have 3 explosive players(T-Mac,Swift,Gay) along with a dominating center on the court at the same time But since JVG is the coach, we will be the same boring team next year.

 

memphis just acquired the rights to Alex Johnson ... maybe it's for us too ...

 

If the deal as it stands is too lopsided, couldn't it end up being something like Swift/Gay for Battier/Cash?

Not that I want cash... I just want to make some sense of this. I actually didn't have a problem with the Mario Williams selection and the more Kubiak is crafting the team the more it makes sense. But this, well it would have made sense if it was Howard or Swift for Battier. But to thrown in Gay I just don't understand. The org. made it known they needed to get younger and more athletic, so why how is getting rid of Gay going to achieve that?

Battier's a nice addition, but at what cost?

well, rox just traded for a dude from orlando just now; anyways, i'm sure we'll get a much much better deal then it appears to be; besides, if tmac is healthy, and everyone stays healthy for the whole reason; it doesn't really matter what kind of roll players we get; the team is built around yao and tmac and i'm sure will go to playoffs next season, no matter who they play with; just that confident

Relax guys, we only traded an unknown commodity and Swift for Shane Battier.

Gay and Swift may have tons of potentials but Battier is a solid player. But one thing i dont like is, never trade with your division rival, especially with guy like Jerry West!!!!
