I agree with others who've said that this feels like a Moneyball trade. Memphis has known to get ****ty players to outperform statistically in their system.

DON'T DEAL WITH MEMPHIS DAMMIT. THEIR PLAYERS ARE LIKE THE CLIPPERS OF THE PAST. @#$%@#%@#$@!#

How frucking outrageous. So another year of one block a season J HO, WTF is wrong with JVG and CD. We get less athletic and lose alot of depth for a mediocre (at VERY best) player?

This is 10X's worse then Bush and Mario Williams. This would be like passing drafting Williams, trading Dominick Davis and getting Ahmed Green.

Battier was the 6th pick in the '01 draft. Had that draft been done again, he would have been selected much lower, obviously. I can't imagine that the Rockets would trade Rudy Gay + Swift for a guy who has been a semi-bust and is already in his late 20's.

That's why I think this alleged trade is part of something larger, because it just doesn't make sense. Battier is actually not a terrible fit for the Rockets, because he plays solid D, hits the 3 at a decent clip, and is a good locker room guy. With that being said, there is no way I'd ever see the Rockets making this trade without something else being thrown in.

Guys on Portland radio were talking about gay- one guy was at their game in the tournament and said calhoun had to constantly yell at gay in the timeouts to get his attention because he was looking off in the crowd. said calhoun was really trying to light a fire under gay from the bench trying to motivate him to get in gear during the game.

But wouldn't that make it even less of a possiblity of the salaries matching up? :/ Man I feel like someone just kicked me in the solar plexus.

Another slow footed player. Oh well, atleast Novak is in the same mold as Scott Padgett.

David Dalati on 610 or 790 reported that the trade cannot be official till July 12th because both teams are over the salary cap.

The cap changes on July 1st and then there is a 12 day moratorium.

So in addition to the worst draft day trade in history of the Rockets, we draft another slow unathletic PF in the 2d Round????

No big deal. This draft sucks anyway. Brandon Roy was the only guy who could have made a difference for us this year so it's too bad we didn't get him.

    Gay will be a bust.

JVG said before the draft that he doesn't make the draft picks. He didn't want Luther Head last draft.

Rockets just picked Steve Novak, a big guy, not looking too good.

Not only will Rudy Gay be better than Shane Battier, he'll certainly be cheaper.

Yeah - Reggie Bush and Vince Young will be busts, too. Say it over and over, and everything will be okay.

Swift and Battier virtually offer the same production. Dahntay Jones would make the salaries work. Still we gave up Rudy Gay!!! How crazy is that!!!

This is all Van Gundy ideas I'll bet. Giving up Gay for Battier is kind of one sided trade already. But adding Swift to the mix also? . Who is going to play PF for them next year? An aging Juwan Howard with history of heart problem with no back up. At least Swift can provide back up or even started for us if needed. Now they have to find a PF with our MLE unless they want to play 40 year Mutombo as PF. There go our chance of picking up an outside shooter with our MLE. I don't know what they are thinking. First there is the Reggie Bush fiasco and now the Rocket follow the same footstep except they even surpass the Texans as far as making no sense with their moves. Very dissapointed to say the least.
